I've been interested in racing for awhile now, and I've always wanted to build my own GK, specifically one that resembles the design of a FIA GK. I just joined autotech at my high-school to better understand the small components of getting a GK to run. Any starting tips would be great!

Get a job, get rich buy a used racer, get good, win races, get sponsors to foot the bill,

Do you mean racing aka "just driving fast" and you like the looks of the racing karts? GK = Go Kart? I wouldn’t build one (like from scratch), I would buy a used frame and ‘build’ (assemble) it into what you want it to be.

Unfortunately, auto tech will focus on automobiles and the insane tech we’re living under and less on karts.

Save your bucks, buy a frame. Piece from here, a piece from there, and build your dream Bud. We can walk you through it all.....

I meant watching racing, learning about the mechanics of the car, what each role of the teams does. Not actually competing. (Mainly Indycar, Formula 1, NASCAR, and MotoGP)

GK=Go Kart

For autotech we are learning small engine repair(lawn mowers, dirt bikes, 4-wheelers etc.) and just automotive basics right now. I know it wasn't gonna be to In depth with building things.

I was thinking of buying a frame and "building" it to what I want, but I would eventually want to build one from scratch.

Welcome to the forum. Buying the frame and building it from there is the way to do it. Building a kart from scratch is a lot harder and a LOT more EXPENSIVE than most people imagine. Good luck with your project. Also, buy a used frame.
