ok i have some pics of how im gonna mount it up to the motor. First thing will be to move the gas tank to a different (and probably more inconvenient but who really cares) spot and then I will create the supercharger bracket using the gas tank studs. after that I will attempt to set up pulleys and we'll see where that takes us. As you have seen, there is no good way to mount the carb to the supercharger, so I am just going to do a blow through setup. @Sparkwizard if I need one of those ammo boxes I'll give you a holler, I really appreciate the offer. And I am going to run a boost reference line to the vent on the tank, thanks for that idea Mr sparkwizard.

What have y'all run for charge pipes? considering using something similar to like the hose on a vacuum cleaner cause its flexible and looks like one of those old school Paxton supercharged gt350's but I still have to figure that out.

I suggest you follow @Denny 's advice and spin that blower to its max before you connect it to your carb. You don't want that inside your engine and you don't want to be near it if it lets go.

It looks like you could put that carb in a box, seal it, seal the cable and gas hose to the box, run a boost line to the gas tank and solve a whole lot of problems.

A shaft driven turbo wouldn’t it be a pro charger? And that thing isn’t doing 4,000 rpm near me. 40,000!?!?!

Have him print a second one for display as it‘s not gonna last long. The 3d print engines on Camden bowens youtube never last long.

Well I guess I could always run a 1 to 1 for 20,000 or even a reduction of somekind. Also I could get it reprinted in a stronger material, think I’m gonna just spin this one up and hide behind a wall or something to see if it splodes. If it does it’ll be one heck of a video, and I could just reprint it. I’ll work on getting it durability tested first I guess.

What is your actual end goal with this? Looks, function, something else? I would advise not trying to use a plastic centrifugal supercharger. I would advise not going blow-through with the carb. Blow-through has potentially significant benefits like ability to add an intercooler, but it's far more complicated to tune.

A cheap Chinese copy of an Aisin AMR300 roots blower would be the most robust and straightforward way to supercharge your engine. It moves 300cc of air per revolution, so underdriving it at 1:2 would net roughly 6psi of boost.

Ok sorry for the delayed update, but I was doing some durability testing on the blower and the input shaft snapped off with about 15 lbs of force on it. I was attempting to see how much it could take, since I think I would need to run a belt tensioner and wanted to see what it could do (was gonna stop at 20 lbs lol). I will post pics asap, but I will definitely be reprinting it in Carbon Fiber reinforced PETG filament, which is like $25 for a roll of it. I figure it should safely hold to about 15,000 -20,000 rpms if if the print is good quality, but I'm probably gonna need to underdrive it a little. (Still using a blast shield btw don't worry.) I also am going to limit the rpms to 5250 for safety, but also for that awesome limiter noise. Also to reply to the people who said I should buy an actual supercharger, or run something else, blah blah blah, the whole reason I am doing this thing is to see what I can make, not what I can buy. I do think that your advice is valuable to me because this is my first time building anything past intake and exhaust. But I'm not just gonna buy stuff cause I don't have like $300 for a Chinese supercharger. Im doing it with the spirit of grassroots man. Also my buddy is buying an actual turbo and he's gonna put it on HIS 212, so it's like a little built vs bought challenge. But it's mostly in the name of figuring out something cool that I can tell my kids about someday. You dig?

I played aroung with old Kirby and Royal vacuum cleaners for a couple of years. They have nice impellers and aluminum housings, high speed bearings and they move a lot of air and will build pressure.
1777557388651.png That wide snout unclips from the front, leaving a housing that looks like a turbocharger. EBay has parts and whole machines.

I think there might be a missed opportunity here

How much is it actually costing you to print these turbo’s is it cost efficient enough you could print one and sell It for more then it cost to print it?

Call me crazy but selling fake turbos until you profit enough to buy a real turbo might be a side gig to make money for parts.

I would love to have one of those on my shelf. Can you, will you print a spare one and sell it to me? I'll even buy the broken one.
I dont plan to use it (any time soon...) so the shaft is not a problem.
It looks like a good design. I hope you can get it working. My comment earlier about the Kirby vacuum cleaner was kind of a hint that you could get a Kirby turbine impeller and housing pretty cheap on eBay and not worry about exploding your impeller.
Carry on. You have caught my attention.

yeah man! do you want the whole blower or just the housing with the impeller? (I broke a couple more shafts getting it apart but I can at least get the shell and casing back together with the impeller in it, though it would never spin again)

Yeah I agree, it was printed out of pla but I’m switching to some carbon fiber PTEG stuff that might hold. If it doesn’t I might get one of them vaccumes or a smog pump
Have you printed two of these turbos so far? I’ll look back through the thread.

I know nothing about printing I’m probably way off are you paying fifty five dollars to print each of these turbos?

I’m still thinking if you sell two local on the Facebook marketplace for fifty five dollars a piece you have $110 in cash. PRINT ONE MORE and sell it for the same price as the last two you sold. Take the money and buy a real turbo.

Once you have a real one don’t stop printing and selling the fake ones? As long as there is enough demand for $55 It would fit any man cave nicely.

Looked back through the thread and if a roll of carbon fiber cam make it for the $25 It’s up to you if turning the $25 into $55 each is worth it. Maybe $65??? Sell two at $65 and you have enough to buy the one outright.
