Ok friends, my first tech question. Comparing the wires of the two. Old and busted has pairs where the Tilly has single.

I am wanting to utilize the electrical that came with the cart. Wondering if the rectifier uses the extra wires since it has factory LED headlights.

So the small connector is going to coil.

This is fun. Big connector with red/black wire go to stuff behind flywheel. Wonder if I should just get another rectifier and sort it out the wiring that way. Thoughts? Not sure I want to disassemble the new motor to see if I can make these mods.

Reading more, that single brown wire from Tilly is probably my voltage from charging block. I’m wondering if that black wire on the big connector from old and busted is just a ground wire (suppose I need to go check it again).

If that is so, I should be able to re-use that big plug and just add the ground wire. Then I need to check out that coil on the Tilly and see if I can wire it up like old and busted. EDIT: So the wires going to the ignition coil on the old and busted appear to be a kill wire and a ground. The Tilly just has a kill wire, apparently it is case grounded and not a floating ground like old and busted appears to be. So again, I think I can reuse the connector and just add a ground wire to the block.

Then I could just plug and play the electrical stuff. Hopefully someone with more experience can steer me in the right direction.

Got Tilly wired up with factory kart plugs, plug and play. Now as long as everything works.

Next is swapping driver over. Took driver off old and busted and found bad bearing. I’ve ordered a replacement but I find myself wondering how long before I upgrade this stuff.

Beats me, that’s how this thing came. It is pressed on, so I have a puller on the way. I had noticed that as well after looking at replacements.

I wonder if it was used to ensure width spacing?IMG_9031.jpeg

Normally its just a brass ring that is a little loose on the center shaft of the driver.
It's purpose is to help prevent creeping when at idle. If everything is set up right, it will work fine with or without the ring.

Ok fellas. Motor is mounted but not tightened up yet, everything plugged in and it spins with the factory key. Got the gearbox assembled with new seals. Any idea how much gear oil goes in this thing? Depending on weather I hope to have it running tomorrow.IMG_9120.jpeg

Got the gear box mounted and the belt/chain. Alignment appears good. But ran into issues with choke cable. The Tilly has a choke lever on the motor but I’m trying to utilize the factory choke cable by the steering wheel. Unfortunately I ended up using the old carb (good cleaning) because of the hardware setup. Had to do some trimming on the air box for the choke bracket to fit but I got it working. I did have to change a couple other smaller parts but nothing major.

Anyhow, we gassed it up and took it for a spin and start breaking the motor in. I’m still going to figure out how I can use the Tilly carb if it is possible.IMG_9125.jpegIMG_9124.jpeg
