Hello everyone!! I am a sort of, car collector who tinkers on my old car collection. I am also a retired Ag. Sci. teacher of 28 years. My brother-in-law gave me two Manco's the other day that his son snagged from a go kart track going out of business. I got new tires, sprockets and clutches and hope to revive the engines. I am repairing them for my great-grand kids for summer. I have enough mechanical knowledge to just be dangerous and zero go kart knowledge. I think I have 2 of the 405 models. I will get some pics up tomorrow. The wheel situation has me anxious. I unknowingly thought you could do like my old cars and go to a site that was for the simple of mind, not so. The cast rims on each one of the drive wheels has a plug out of the side.

Hello Johnny Reb. I was surprised a go kart track had Mancos. Was it a concession kart track (pay to ride)?

I wish we had parents and grandparents like us on a forum(if one existed) when we were growing up! Somehow we figured out how to build(make shyt work) when we were kids.

Welcome to the site!

I thought Manco only made lawnmowers. At least that's what the company in Manatee County, Florida made. They were the high wheel mowers, similar to the Key mowers. Most were tricycle gear. They even made one with a triangle-like blade "without" a shroud. Back in the day my grandfather would have me mow his 20 acre yard with it, never giving one thought of me cutting my foot off. LOL

The answer to your confusion is in the statement above. The Manco go kart manufacturer was never based in Florida but was based initially in Fort Wayne Indiana if I am not mistaken. Similar names but separated by product type and geography. Learned something new, thanks.
