Hey guys,

I picked this Hawaiian Punch mini funny car up a few years ago and haven't done squat with it until now, when I'm about to give it some TLC.

Most of the livery that's not shown is actually under the paint so re-creating it will be no problem for my sign guy, I'm dropping it off to him next week, he's done all my race cars, helmets, signs, etc.

I know zip about these cars although through research, I'm learning...and I found this forum, lol.

The body comes off this week so I'll look for any labels or other indicators as to make...next up is alloy wheels and proper tires.
Any input is much appreciated...thanks in advance,

John

Great kart. Have seen at least one of these on the forum in recent memory. Just to be sure, it's not a real dragster funny car, but a replica... 😁:innocent:

This should turn out to be an awesome project! Look forward to future posts on the progress. Start a new post in the Photo Gallery/Project log section and document your project, ask a ton of questions and post lots of photo's! We love photos. Welcome to the site. :cheers2:

Thanks, I printed all the pictures that would help my sign guy, he really is good!

Grizzly isn't wrong. I don't think we have a documented funny car project on here, just photos here and there and honestly you don't often get to see these types of karts, especially details of the body and frame. 📸📸📸

And that puppy is in really good condition, some big slicks in the rear with some skinny(er) fronts on some nice Azusa or mag type polished rims would really set it off with a restored body to boot!

Yes…my thoughts exactly!

It is in very nice condition and has some cool features, one of them being how the body fastens to the chassis, although this may have been modified by Cole Foster who I bought it from, he’s an incredible fabricator, like his late father Pat Foster who was a genius, I am the current caretaker of the last dragster he built.

Welcome.

Im gonna call your bs. You say you don't know anything about it but you peeled the covers off a few in the background for a sneak peek.

Karts are easy.

Snap a few of the muscle in the back. I wanna see.

LOL...Billy Lynch/Pat Foster recreated 2008 dragster and super rare Mr. Ed trailer from '68.

The funny car is a 1 of 2 built 1967 GS400 constructed by my dad in '67 and remains to this day as the World's only Buick-powered Buick funny car ever built.

Ron Pelligreni did a he’ll of a job on that body! So cool it was saved. There were a few firsts on that car if I remember right.
Ron splashed 2 molds from a ‘67 GS he borrowed from his sponsor Palmer Buick in Chicago, his Super Bird…which did not flip up and was 392-powered…and Ingenue.

Lots of one-off bespoke components on Ingenue made on a lathe and mill…pre CNC, lol…there were no Buick speed parts…so everything was hand made.
