Starting a 500cc Tom Thumb mini trike build and need advise

I have a nice 82 Honda 497cm air cooled kick start engine that I want to build a tiny trike frame around and I don't want to pay $350 bucks for a new wire harness, so I was wondering if I could get away with using a wire harness off of a 125cc pit bike if I redid the connectors or am I asking to start another fire?

Anyone as cheap as I am and ever do this before ?

Any electrical advise would be great

If you have the original harness get a wiring diagram and modify/repair/customize/adapt it to suit your needs.

Yup. DiY. This was a donor motor I wanted to get running before the swap. I didn't have much of a schematic but you get the point.

I don't have the original wire harness but I do have a wire harness from a 125cc Chinese kick start engine So in theory all I would need to do is make sure I was able to connect it up and it should work

What kinda electric equipment are you going to have on this vehicle? Ya already said kick srart, so no starter, probably no generator? So what? Some lights? No ignition? Just a kill switch? This should be purdy simple. A wire harness from another machine won't work.

Many folks, have had many problems, with used Chinese wiring harnesses
...so, I agree with T (aka Master Hack) probably be best ta make your own

It will have absolutely nothing electrical on it except for whats needed for the engine because of the extremely small space i will have to work with
