...in the classic sense of the word. Single seat karts with no brush guards/roll cages, and at a lower price point than the average two passenger China ATV-buggy with lights, mirrors, horns and turn signals. The first one I ever saw was probably a Zooma Ty-Rod (I, II, III or IV versions) and it was a bare bones design and had hand controls and no pedals. Info on these seems extremely scarce although there are some mentioned on the forum.

Is the following a successor to the Tyrod? It's fully suspended and has a goofy riding position, but I'll allow it....
$481.06 and free shipping is like 1980's pricing.

Wonder if it can handle a 212cc retrofit....

Theres a kid on Youtube that races one of these, the second kart you show, red one. Super fast-obviously hopped up a bit!

Its funny to see him lift the kart to heat up his tires. I think hes in Chicago. Think...

That Asian man in the video never gets it into the powerband for some long flybys to see what it will really do but it seemed pretty impressive for the 60 to 80cc motor it had. Will look for more videos

I wonder what the gear reduction gearbox is like. Not a centrifugal clutch, not a belt driven TAV either but seems pretty legit.

The smaller red kart. I just like the sound of 2-smokes. Wonder how many I can fit in a minivan....

Well wouldn't you know it. Of course the Chinese stole the idea from 2+ decades ago or more {patent expiration or just don't care?} from an American design. I remember the Go-Ped scooters but not the Quad or Go-Ped Trail Ripper Quad. They do appear to have improved it a lot, double wishbone suspension on the front and a little more complexity but the original had a folding seat! 🤓

I'm always learning.

Variation on the theme, full suspension China-kart. Have not seen this particular one for sale, the link I got it from said it was not currently available.

Version 2? ⬇️ A little beefier with better bracing on the steering column and what looks like rack and pinion steering. Pretty neat design.

You and WTR are right, why the heck is the frame shaped like a Coke bottle? Looks dangerous for the feet and the narrow portion looks like a weak spot or stress point.
