OMG they don't give ya much splines
Well it may be short but its big around....
its roughly 3.25" dia.
it was good enough to survive 20 years of merciless abuse. I hope it can withstand a few more.
only one way to find out. Empherical engineering! Like always!
this plan, despite its shortcomings it the most popular in this(backyard) engineers challenge.
there is so much evidence that this donor was just ABUSED. Fortunatley it was built for it . Obviosly ya don't buy a machine like that to cruise around without twisring thar right grip. Excessive twisting often leads to close up inspection of stationary objects.

We are still taking entries for "guess that tune" until midnight June 30.

This'll seperate the geezers fromthe young'ns
To darn quick on name that tune. I would need another 6 seconds anyway, because I don't think it was a extremely popular song that's playing.

Took the spinny thing from the wheel and put it in the lathe. Turned it down and make flats for the bolts.

I stopped short of the original amount of material to remove. I got down to the insert has these things to keep the insert from slipping. The shorter they are the weaker they are.

Yea! We're back!
I've had lotsa free time since the forum broke.
l pulled the long term project out of long term storage in order to combat long term boredom!
This is purdy cool, it's like a new project, cuz l don't remember where i was and why!
The selected tubing is now fully aged and in prime condition! So l cut, cleaned, notchhed and tacked a few more pieces.

I HAD to do some work on this thing! I hated the look! It looked like a Dog sled! You know those stupid engineless things that dog haul around in the snow. Strike 3!
1: no engine
2: propulsion by animals
3. Snow.
So anyway it doesn't look like that anymore.

Back to our regular schedualed program....
l decided to do things differently and be smart for a change. This engine l found already has two strikes against it so B4 l get too deep into this a compression test is in order.
Strike 3....
good thing it was cheap!
So the search begins again.
