I got this kart a couple days ago from a guy on the Nextdoor app and only paid $200 for it now I need to know what it is so I can fix it up to let my 9 year old destroy it

The kart also came with a tiny roll cage and a rounded fiberglass rear engine cover that looks like it was made to look like a vintage midget or something

Anyone have any ideas of who makes it and where I can get parts for it ?

Any information would be greatly appreciated

Let me know if I need to take better pictures and I will do

Thanks

I know of all those web sites and have them in my bookmarks.... i guess I will give them a try but
This is not a typical generic go kart with all the basic cart hardware you see on most other karts it actually has a suspension system that looks like it's for little kid circle track racing and I have been building go karts and mini bikes for almost 22 years and never had to buy anything that looks like what this little kart has on it like tiny shock absorbers and junk and it's got a split rear axle so only one wheel powers the kart.....

I will take your advice and check out the websites to see if I can find any parts for it

Thanks

No it's not. Without better photos and the fiberglass removed, we can't tell. But so far it looks somewhat desirable and somewhat modified by the previous owner. Might even be homemade but it has some serious features. At the same time it looks bloated, overbuilt and heavy.

Didn't the guy know what it was? How come nobody ever knows?

What did the ad say, "Don't waste my time. No Lowballers, I don't know what I got" ? :wai:

Haul it out on the grass, take off the body and get good front, side, rear, quarter views and get on your knees for some of the photos.

The add said "Go kart $200" and it was up for 5 days before i saw it
I asked the guy what it was and who made it and he looked at my like i was retarded ...as if he never thought about the possibility of there being actual different companies that build different kinds of go karts and I didn't want to destroy the strange tiny world he lives in so I just dropped it because I assumed I would find some kind of an ID stamped on it somewhere but I don't see anything that looks like a vin or a company logo or anything on any of the parts that would give me any idea of how to identify it... Or I just didn't look in the right location....
where's my glasses and flashlight ?

The thing is that this kart is freakishly tiny like it was made for a midget or a 5 year old kid

As far as I know it's always been in California but then again I don't even know who made it so I it could have been made in China for all I know ... I don't know
.... I do live near Antioch Speedway

Here are a few more better pictures of it all put together

That’s a great story about the seller! :roflol:
What a tard.

Anyway, I had no idea the kart was so small. I’ll take your word for it even though it’s hard to tell from the pics. Bear in mind that go karts are also freakishly small, like clown cars or something, and people mistakenly think go karts (just like minibikes) were made for the kids when nothing could be further from the truth.

It looks super cool with the full body and cage. I agree with Denny; 1/4 midget or “junior” 1/4 midget (I made that up).
For $200 you stole it.

Does it run?

it will, the guy also gave me 3 extra engines two 3hp gas engines and a late 1980's Honda 497cm engine that I was thinking of using but with a different axle and big old meats on the back

I like building this kind of stuff normally

Oh for scale those are 9" tall tires on the front and 12" tall tires on the rear

And this is a Freddy Fazbear that's almost 7' tall that I am almost done building as well..

I was finally able to ID the kart !!!

It's a
1976 Kurtis Kraft Super JR Quarter Midget and I completely redid the entire thing the only thing that's left is the upholstery

Super nice. It looks way better than it did before with the hackneyed, over-done flame job. Sorry flame lovers, but they are ubiquitous. 😢 Heheh.
Can you tell us how you redid it?

I love that! I want it!

Make him an offer! You still need a kart though per the forum rules, a real kart, and this isn't one.

I took the whole thing apart, stripped the paint and removed all the rust then sprayed the chassis with a scratch resistant rubberized undercoating that prevents rust from forming afterwards

Then I started to freak out a little because all 4 wheels are connected by a steel rod that acts as a guide and as the front and rear axle vertical travel limiter and I was unsure if I would be able to put it back together correctly but I managed to figure it out

Then I stripped the paint off of the fiberglass body

Then I completely destroyed a garbage go kart and stole the engine out of it and harvested the chassis tubing for a future project

Then I went to the auto part store and got 1 can of bondo 2 cans of sand-able red primer filler and 2 cans of Dupil-color metallic anodized red and one can of Dupil-color 1K Clear ( Extreme gloss finish spent 6 buck on a roll of pin stripes and 11 bucks on a racing stripe for a car to hide the horrible boo boo i made when painting and should have just left it alone but i knew I could fix it... and I did fit it by covering it up and pretending it's not there

The worst part about this project is that I can't ride it ... I'm about 190 lbs too heavy and about 4' too tall
there is absolutely no possible way my big butt would ever fit and trying to get out of it if i did somehow manage to get into it makes me feel claustrophobic just thinking about..
I would have to remove the body then hike my legs over the steering wheel support like i fell into a toilet and squeez my butt between the side rails..
Could you imagine what the neighbors would think seeing a grown man in his late 40's in a race car made for a midget human

That just gave me an idea...
Foot pegs
hand controls and a milk crate !

I would agree: Midgets for kids and Go Karts for adults, teens and ...midgets? 😁
Go Karts are for adults and the post-pubescent, not (kids) young goats 😁

The worst part about this project is that I can't ride it ... I'm about 190 lbs too heavy and about 4' too tall

I would not even try to ride it. It is what it is, a junior racecar, but it looks fantastic. 🤩

Um, A, midgets were made for kids to race not adults. It was considered a learning step before real race cars. Now kids have gokarts.
Yeah I know that's what the foot pegs, hand controls and milk crate are for..... So I can drive it too !
I love that! I want it!
It is for sale and I would be more than willing foam wrap it crate it and ship it as long as you cover the shipping cost.... it's deceptively heavy, If i had to guess it's weight, i would say it's probably around 85 to 90lbs

What engine did you put in it, Numscul?
I took out the 98cc Motovox engine the guy I got it from put in it and i replace it with an engine that someone left in front of my garage that was really hard to start until i changed the spark plug, changed the carb and put fresh oil in it

I honestly have no idea what size the engine is
but now I'm a little curious and because you asked I'll go take a look ....

Okay I checked and still have absolutely no idea There is a sticker on the pull start that I think it has "OMB warehouse" ?

Okay so I did a search of OMB warehouse and found the engine I guess it's a predator 212cc I removed the gas tank from it so it would fit under the tank that's for a motorized bike that just so happens to fit under the fiberglass body...
