Remember, that little 48V 1,000W motor, has a ~1.2HP rating
...whereas your common ICE (internal combustion engine) like a Predator 212 has a ~6.5HP rating
&/so,
The losses of a JS wouldn't be noticed as much
...on a kart with a 6.5HP engine
...as they would be on kart with a 1.2HP motor :cheers2:
Good point.
Just bothers me to put an (almost) 7 inch sprocket on there with only a 10" wheel.https://www.nitrochain.com/35b54-58-finished-bore-sprocket

Too much math. Just go gas!

YES! GAS GAS GAS

Ahh (Gas, gas, gas)
Ahh
Do you like my car? My car...my car...

Guess you're ready, 'cause I'm waiting for you
It's gonna be so exciting!
Got this feeling really deep in my soul
Let's get out, I wanna go
Come along, get it on

Gonna take my car, gonna sit in
Gonna drive along 'til I get you
'Cause I'm crazy, hot and ready
But you'll like it
I wanna race for you
Shall I go now?

Gas, gas, gas
I'm gonna step on the gas
Tonight I'll fly
And be your lover
Yeah, yeah, yeah
I'll be so quick as a flash
And I'll be your hero

Gas, gas, gas
I'm gonna run as a flash
Tonight I'll fight
To be the winner
Yeah, yeah, yeah
I'm gonna step on the gas
And you'll see the big show

Don't be lazy, 'cause I'm burning for you
It's like a hot sensation!
Got this power that is taking me out
Yes, I've got a crush on you
Ready, now, ready, go

Gonna take my car
Do you like my car?
'Cause I'm crazy, hot and ready
But you'll like it
I wanna race for you
Shall I go now?

Gas, gas, gas
I'm gonna step on the gas
Tonight I'll fly
And be your lover
Yeah, yeah, yeah
I'll be so quick as a flash
And I'll be your hero

Gas, gas, gas
I'm gonna run as a flash
Tonight I'll fight
To be the winner
Yeah, yeah, yeah
I'm gonna step on the gas
And you'll see the big show

Gas, gas, gas
Yeah, yeah (Yeah)
Gas, gas, gas
And you'll see the big show
Ahh!

Sorry for the hijack fellas, but this is high culture cult song :cornut: :auto:

and I planted an earworm in someone....

The Beach Boys and the associated gas will have to wait a while.
The wireless/electric/rechargable/ system just makes more sense. The grandbrat can just unplug the charger, turn the key and go. If it were a gas engine l think a 10YO kid would have a "difficult" time starting it. The first time it wont start, it'll get pushed outside and left to rust. Electric just makes more sense, it has to 10YO kid proof.

Yea, as a recently almost 10 year old kid (50 years ago) pushing it outside to rot would not have happened. I would have gotten it running.

Been out workin in the shop on this thing 2day.
The gearing has been decided so, moving on. We need a plate to mount all this new fangled lectric stuff.
l found a nice piece of .125" sheet andput some random holes and slots in it to accomodate the stuff.
Knowing the hard abuse this thing has to endure, l decided some gussets/stiffeners would be in order. Flipped over to put that stuff on the bottom.
The axle is on the bottom so there an interference problem. Hole saw fixed that. It takes a special half round hole saw to cut reliefs like this.

the random holes and slots are for the stuff to mount to, on the other side.IMG_4925.jpeg IMG_4922.jpeg
next up, finish the stuff underneath then turn it over and do more stuff on that side.
stay tuned!

Another day another steamin pile o scrap.
The underside is finished for now.

IMG_4926.jpeg

So turned it right side up and started to work on where the stuff goes.
The motor needs to slide fore and aft to adjust the chain.
Flat head socket head cap screws cuz the plate has too be smooth on the bottom.

IMG_4927.jpeg
motor goes here. The other stuff goes on the right side and in front of the motor if needed.

IMG_4931.jpeg

Stay tuned for the next episoe, when we'll wander aimles.... er ah we'll make somethin else.

The stuff plate doesn't have a whole lot of strength where it attaches to the frame. It is a purdy obvious point fatigue and bla bla a bunch of engineerring bullshyt. Point is it needs reinnforcing. So we invented the frame stabilizing hande. It ties he extended stuff plate to the frame. It may get some more triangulation after l see how much flex we gots.

Here's the scroungers tip of the month:

I went dumpster div.... i mean shopping for material at my fav sheet metal shop.
I found these 1/8 inch think conduit knockouts. Always on the lookout for something i can use. I instantly saw heavy duty washer/backup plate.
into the spinna machice.
