I just purchased my 13th go kart restoration project. $200. I have good plans for this one. When I got it home I found the tag and model number.
Manco Dingo Model: 285-28. I cannot find this exact model anywhere. Why?

Is there a chance you could have a 285B-2? No listing anywhere for a 285-28. That 8 could pass for a B possibly.

Compare the "8" in question with the previous 8. Theyre exactly the same.

No. It is clearly 285-28. BMI Karts doesn’t have it listed either. An enigma for sure.

I took a good look at both, they are very similar if not exact but since there are no listings for a 285-28 I thought possibly that 8 could have been a B. Not likely but figured I'd mention it. There are a bunch of B models listed.

Maybe check with someone at American Landmaster or Go Karts R Us. They've helped me in the past.

Sent an email to both companies. Let’s see what happens.

This is the response I got from Go Karts R Us:
If you have a 285-28, then you have a model 285 with a revision change of 28. They did not make a parts manual for every revision just to note, so take the closest number (next higher maybe?) and compare. A lot of these parts for this machine are now considered obsolete, and I understand the almost free curb-sale deals on this 30+ yr old model, but it will be tough to get some (most) of the parts anymore.

So with that understanding, It's all done by part number; picked from your models parts manual. I'll include a link below for that, then simply type the part# into our sites SEARCH box, and if the part is still available it will display a "Add to Cart" button, otherwise it's most likely out and Mfgr considered "Obsolete". The Mfgr of this machine is out of business as you most likely know.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,

Brenda B.
