Fuel Gauge?

Does anyone make a fuel gauge you can put in a regular simple gas can? Maybe something where I have to drill a hole but thats ok? Not anything remote, just the ability to look at the top of the tank and know how much gas was in there would be super useful! Especially with the fuel filter that blocks your view below maybe 65%.

If there is a simple, not too expensive solution to this, I will definitely not only put one in my kart but also my snow blower and lawn mower. The more I think of it, it's kind of dumb that these devices don't have gauges. A simple mechanical gauge on the tank itself would be very easy to design in from the start.

Basically nope! But you can make a simple level gauge with 2, 1/4” weld in bungs, 2, 90* 1/4” elbows with barb ends and some clear tigon tubing with 2 hose clamps.

Then that apparatus gets knocked of in the back of your truck and you loose $3000 of gas (exaggerating). This is going on a plastic gas can right?

Portable marine fuel tanks usually have a gauge built into them. That's so when you are out on your yacht sipping champagne listening to Cristopher Cross you don't have to put much energy into speculating about your "what-if-the-wind-dies" plan B.

Most of the aftermarket aluminum kart tanks come with one. They are constructed exactly like described by Denny in the above post. We have one on one of our karts. Have not had it come off. Pretty helpful actually.

Clarification: Gas TANK, not gan can. I wish I could edit my original post.

Regarding material, I believe my kart's tank is steel and I think my blower and mower are both plastic but I'm not 100% sure.

^ something like that would be perfect if they came with some kind of fitting to be used in a permanent custom hole, as opposed to using them as your gas cap, which I'd rather not do. And also it would have to come in different lengths since each can will be different. They could technically be shortened but it would be hard to shorten those and twist the twist in a way that would keep the fairly accurate.

When the wind dies down, that's when you turn on your solar wind fan. Than you can get back to sipping champagne and by now, dancing to Christopher Cross.
