My 14t c-sprocket came in the mail today for the 30 series. it was a massive win! Very low off line power but top speed is in The danger zone. Now the bigger question genuine comet belts to replace the yamiege 669 belts seem cheap? Gates sells a $37 dollar premium belt. in the world of panzer tractors that rely on belt drive gates belts are all that is recommended. so the cheap comet belt or the gates premium? and Yupp another 1am test ride. cold and a blast! It’s technically only midnight cause the clocks turn back? bonus one less hour of sleep.DDDE141B-66B1-4B48-BF41-D6F1ACA314CF.jpeg

Is there a reason for the late night ride? Like maybe neighbors, or cops. Or was it that you couldn't wait any longer to test out that 14 toother. That's a
BIG one. Maybe empty roads seemed a little safer in the Danger Zone. Hope
it was a hoot.

There are other atv’s out and about right now i’m not the only one ahha. And the neighbors are running a chainsaw at the moment. the cop six houses down loves it. Basically it’s business as usual. I couldn’t wait at all.. had to go blasting around for fun.

So i am a new guy. To this life. I did some googling. I am a mechanic by trade. Do the sprocket teeth and chain length affect the speed and TQ as drastically as the internet says. Or is that just engineers who never rode a cart?

I was gonna mention to Denny that this thread was different from the streakers because it only pertains to T/C gearing. the chain length is not important till your ready to put the chain on and go ripping. that’s when you have to choose a happy medium between the engine plate slides and chain tension. As for tooth count affecting speed the engineers new the way before they started. tooth count will always effect speed. tire size is way more important when choosing a tooth count then chain length. it comes in ten feet length at HF

100% though I took the ten tooth off the torque converter because I wanted it to be wayyyyyyy faster. I installed a 14t and Got exactly what I wanted. no takeoff Power. and road speed setup for arm drop/roll racing On the streets.

Man, I wish I lived in your neighborhood.
hey just in Case your streaker did have a raised engine mount I wanted to let you know if you have a drill to mount the 8hp would be $30 tax and you need a drill. Probably wanna show me pictures and I show you some more close up pictures of my streaker Before you even think about buying the plate though. you can keep it governed and still have way more safe power then a 5hp6C033DBA-B016-41EF-91F5-792ADFE8C607.png

Thanks so much, it’s really nice to talk to someone who has a lot of experience with this cute little karts. I can’t get pictures right now, but when I get a chance I will. I got a HIGH PERFORMANCE Streaker PACE SETTER Fun Kart S465. If that gibberish means anything to you lol. Originally it came with a 5HP Clinton I think but that engine is long gone.

Here’s what it looked like from the factory 5D73C98E-D6C8-4B2B-BF94-0CF94FF79D2C.jpeg8CB337D9-915A-44EE-8A82-C801467F6FF1.jpeg it’s got sawtooth tires on the rear now and no engine, but it’s bolt on the engine functional. I’m not looking for full restoration, I just want to go fast. It needs a seat too

yupp That does not have a raised engine mount. I have no idea if the Toro mounting plate would work on your kart. the previous owners had got to this streaker engine plate before I ever owned the kart. You can see the 5hp mount slots widened to fit a Tecumseh/Briggs 8hp engine. there are no weld options. but I’m starting to think you should keep the mount stock and go with the 5hp or just get a HF and learn to build with that. they are capable of like 15+ hp and mount up stock Like the 5hp Briggs and torque converters are listed for 212’s specifically even if there generic.

yours Is a live axle? I rushed back to let you know torque converter sprockets leave the chain riding flush to the sidecover of the engine. and in your kart I’m sure the clutch is outboard. if you cannot flip the clutch and get the Clutch/axle sprocket to line up again you cannot run a torque converter without some work involved. And on clutch’s In general names like Hillard and bully come to mind but are super expensive. max torque clutches are also top notch and have a ton of adjustability.

yep mines a live axle. I think I’ll pick up a junkyard/Craigslist B&S 5HP and clutch.

gahh I wasted all that time with 5hp’s and I just don’t want to see you waste yours. the only way it’ll last is if you get some billet goodies.. your 5hp crank will have to be in 999 spec to use the billet rod. And it’s still only 5hp... if you delete the gov without the rod it will break. If you do the rod without flywheel you have done zero to make the 5 any more safe then the 8.. if you build the 5hp to be safe you will not make an 8hp’s power with it. Not even close. if You use the 8hp it’s gotta have jackshaft plate mount bolts. dude they are like 10k rpm 20hp capable 6 1/2hp capable blocks. if I spend any and I mean any more cash on engines it will be a predator that doesn’t get unboxed till arcs parts show up at my door... waste of time. not bigger engines there worth it. just not the safest.. Edit: all I care about is top speed so none of that may matter to you at all..

after you get some billet goodies your going to want a cam... you’ll PayPal for that or make one. it’s rare they sell or even show up on eBay. And the cam has to be hot stock so you don’t bust the lifer bore face off the engine.. predators kits Come with the 265 or whatever and go all The way to insane. Get good at 5hp’s quick and be happy with what they are and you are solid. If you want anything I would categorize as fun you will need a bigger engine or built predator. 2DB5A90B-4562-4E92-9D8E-5F9F8CE5C360.jpeg

Thanks for sharing your experience. What’s the width of mounting for the 8hp? I saw one running on a generator on Craigslist for $75. I’d really love to have one on my kart.

No good all generators I have seen have tapered shafts and at best you will get away with a 1” clutch adapter and the clutch cannot have it’s own 1/4 key way sticking out from the clutch. it has to have a channel for a 1/4 key To be slid into. and you use the much taller 1/4 key supplied with the output shaft adapter. you cannot use a torque converter with a output shaft adapter. all I do is country Road ride and it’s very fast pace racing. I need the biggest fastest engine that I can bolt to the plate. I have to slow down sometimes and realize not everyone wants that.

That’s what I thought about the generator. Is yours a 1inch shaft? And what’s the mounting width? Thanks a ton for teaching an 8hp noob!
