Just playing around with a junked toro 212cc snowblower engine, down about .015, hopefully by the end of the 6 pack
she'll be shaved .050 . Don't worry bout the finish, after some rubbing on 100-150 grit emery cloth sheets,
ill be store bought.

Just a 5/16 end mill and a 1970's craftsman drill press.

And before it's said, the piston pops out the deck slightly, can't run a thin gasket.

Job done well enough, still have brew left. Might have went over .050, she'll be right

Hope you can see the difference in the combustion chamber volume by the pics.
Gonna sand it a bit more.

After porting and modifying the valves for more flow , gonna raise the rocker arms studs, run longer pushrods
from the parts bin, and get the rocker arms to contact the valves near the very tip
to get every bit of lift out the second hand cl1 grind cam. Plus other free performance mods.

karl, is the 100 - 150 grit the only paper you use after cutting? Do you start with the 100 and finish with the 150, or do you just use either one. I would have thought it would take something a little finer to finish with. Great idea.

Thanks, yeah I started with the 100 then will finish with the 150. If I was running a thin steel or copper gasket
I would go finer, but with the thick graphite gaskets, having a bit of texture seems to
give the gasket something to bite into, if that makes sense.

If anyone tries this at home (drill press milling) , hold onto the head very tight and
take off a few thousands per pass. Its easy for the end mill to grab and throw the head around.

That is igenuity at its finest. How did you clamp it down to mill It? End mills can bite. I’ve seen parts fly across the shop, if not securely attached to the machine.
that is the finest drill press milling I’ve seen!

You go kart guys are like true old school hot rodders. Doing what ya can with what you got, and maybe a few things you shouldn't.
