I’m wondering if I can buy a 7” chain sprocket with a 3/4” bore? I don’t even know if that exists, I tried to google it but Im usually not good at putting what I need into words lol was hoping to replace a driven pulley with a chain sprocket seeing as this kart is rigged all the way up my thought process is to take the driven off and replace it with a chain sprocket so I could then put a TC kit on there and it actually work. I know I’m asking a lot about the same thing but I feel like having it on a chain driven instead of belt would be a lot easier to deal with

This is a good page to keep. Go Kart How To Guides and Go-Kart Manuals I don't quite understand what you are trying to do.
So basically this kart I’ve been working on has been really rigged up by whoever owned it before me. I say that because most other karts I’ve seen usually have the chain sprocket on the drive side of the motor, this one has a 7” driven belt pulley on the side with the driver clutch and it’s attached by a jackshaft to a chain sprocket on the opposite side. My question is, could I install a TC kit on the motor and then replace the belt pulley with a 7” chain sprocket? As in a 3/4” bore sprocket maybe with a key way to lock it in? The TC kit comes with a small sprocket that fits onto the assembly so I figured I could run a chain from the back pulley to the sprocket on the TC kit and have it work that way? I’m just checking off potential alternatives to finding a proper belt and driven pulley 972CF56F-7A61-43B1-A22F-F5C8A65545AD.jpegA8FC189D-BA5A-4540-93D8-BB413104845F.jpeg

Is that just a fixed pulley on the jackshaft? A TAV has 3 components that makes it work. A driver unit on the engine. A driven unit on a jackshaft, and of course a belt.
My assumption is you are wanting to put a fixed plate on the engine with a driver and driven pulley. Then have a chain go from the driven jack shaft to the existing jack shaft where the pulley is mounted?
I don't think a TAV fixed plate can fit there without removing your jack shaft. No room.
Do you have a picture of the other side of the Jack Shaft pulley? Is it a reverse mounted driven unit or just a pulley?
If it is just a pulley you can replace it with a proper driven unit and get the correct size belt.
I have no idea where you are talking about putting a 7" sprocket.
If you are able to mount a TAV plate on the engine with the existing jack shaft you currently have you could have the TAV sprocket which is usually a 10 or 12 tooth feed a sprocket where the pulley is now. You certainly would not want a 7" sprocket as it would interfere with the TAV plate and you'd be geared wrong. If you need lower gearing a 10 tooth at the TAV Driven unit and a 15 tooth at your karts jackshaft should work.

Yes it is a reverse mounted driven pulley, 20 series. My question was could I take it off and put a 7”(I say 7” because the pulley is 7”) sprocket on there. That’s why I’m asking because I have no clue if it’ll work, I just assumed you couldnt run a chain on 2 10T sprockets so I would need a 10T on the driven assembly and a 20-30T on where the driver pulley is. I tell people on here all the time I’m terrible at wording this stuff but I’m still learning it all, it’s only been about 3 months now

I don’t really know how to explain it but basically this has been a pain in the ***, I ordered a TC kit which of course wasn’t the right size so I sent it back, but my thing is I can’t find a belt when I do get a kit because the measurements I get never match a belt I can find, it’s supposed to be center to center, and then OD of the driven right? My measurements come out weird and most of the videos I see trying to find a belt they all have TCs on them and the chain drive is on the left side of the kart instead of the right like mine and when it’s on the left side it seems to just make things way easier. I’m not a welder so I can’t cut the necessary pieces I need to in order to flip the rear axle so I’m stuck looking for a solution to that problem

Like I said. You can put a 30 series TAV kit. Support plate, Driver, Driven, Belt. It will have a 10 tooth or 12 tooth sprocket on it. Go with comet if you can. Good components. Then pull the driven unit you have on there and put a sprocket in its place. Probably a 15 tooth or so.
I have no idea what you are talking about when you say replace the driven pulley with a 7” sprocket.
This is a kit. Back plate and driver, driven, belt.

Right, but the only thing I need from the kit itself is a 30 series driven pulley, I have a 30 series driver and a 20 series driven currently. When I say replace the driven for a 7” sprocket (I mean OD but have no clue how many teeth I’d need) I mean take off the current driven (belt pulley not clutch) and replace it with a sprocket so instead of having one driven that runs around the driver with a belt, I could just replace the driven with a sprocket and change the clutch into a 30 series chain clutch and run a chain on both sides. So basically instead of the belt driver and driven I have turn it into a chain driver and driven. I really have no clue how else to say it bro lol replace the pulley that’s on the jackshaft into a chain sprocket. First picture you can see both sides of the jackshaft, on the left is the driver side, and the right is the side with the chain sprocket that delivers the power from the motor to the wheels. 9159E9A1-7031-43E8-89BB-60CEFD79F2E8.jpeg9FAF1349-A3BB-4A44-95F8-EE11A10FD9A1.jpeg54E0D19D-9176-4EA6-B61D-8B94B5A02A72.jpeg

Okay, I figured you wanted to stay with a TAV.
The sprocket for the jack shaft would be much smaller than 7". A 7" sprocket on the jack shaft would give you great low end torque, but your top end speed would be very low. The diameter of the clutch would be much smaller than what you have on the Torque Converter driver. Look at the guide I attached. https://www.bmikarts.com/go-kart-how-to-guides Just eyeballing your axle and jack shaft sprockets I'd say a 10-12 tooth clutch sprocket and a 15-18 tooth jack shaft sprocket. Your overall gear ration will need to be greater than what you have now being you are eliminating the variable drive of a TAV.

That’s what I needed, thank you bro lol cause I have been racking my brain over what to do, still got the pulley stuck on the jackshaft right now and was going to order a new one but I can’t find any like the one that’s on there so I’m just gonna try my hardest to get it off. Do you think having the chain instead of the TC would affect the power/speed if the gear ratio is right? As in would it be better to just use a TC? Because all I can really use from the kit is the clutch and the driven itself seeing as the chain is on the opposite side

I don't think the 20 series and 30 series components are compatable. A TAV gives you a varitable ratio "transmission". The centrifical clutch is a 1 speed. Figureing out a belt will still be a hassle. Either way you go you have to use the jack shaft as the engine mount is in the way to run a axle sprocket on the left side. Assuming your driver is good you could get a mount plate that bolts to the engine and get a new driver. Then a chain would go from the the mount plate to your jack shaft. It would be alot more $$$ than just getting a centrifical clutch, but your overall performace would be much better.
You can always just drop a couple bucks and get the whole setup. The link below seems to be popular.

What size are the tires from the ground to the top of the tire? Then give me the sprocket sizes on the other side from the torque converter. Tell me if you live in a hilly terrain or very flat. Lastly is the driver yourself or do you want to put young people on the kart? I can give you some suggestions once I get these answered. If you want to use the kart in parades then the only answer then would be a torque converter. Clutches have only one speed --pedal to the metal so the clutch has a chance to cool down. Stop and go driving is very hard on a clutch. A clutch go kart won't last the first block in a parade, just ask any Shriner that has driven one. I repair a lot of them for the Shriners just because they don't have the room to put the torque converter.
