I'm looking to make a few projects. I currently have a 212cc Ghost with the accessory package destined for a drift trike. I am looking to start small with things like this and get into real kart racing with my son and grandson. Im 50 years old and too fat to race but my son loves the idea. He's 28 and would love to race and make this a family type endeavor. We both don't want to get thrills from cars anymore. Too expensive and too much legal. I am a metal fabricator by trade/CNC maintenance tech. I have welded for 30 years with MIG. I can operate a Bridgeport and a lathe. I have a model 3 tube bender and Bend-Tech software, a Hobart Handler 185. What I need from you guys are resources for the Kart scene. I'm am also having a terrible time finding a good wide front tire for a drift trike with a disc brake for under $140. I have searched for entire wide tire bikes to cut it from but not had much luck. I live near the Flint/Lansing area of Michigan. I would appreciate any help you could give me.

Sounds like you have the skills and tools to do just about anything you want.
Welcome to the forum. Good to have you aboard. Hey wait a minute here.
I'm fat, 24 years older than you and try to race with my grandkids. I can't win, even when they let me. But I still have fun trying.

I have not done any racing. I'm looking to connect with my son and grandson in a cool hobby. My body can't take the bumps anymore professionally. I'm 50 6'1" with a bad back and 270 lbs but for sure i'll get out and have some fun. My boy is about 5'9" 170 lbs. Perfect size for a racer IMO. He's excited about doing this and getting his son into it eventually. Good clean fun with the family. Not too dangerous so his wife will be on board as well. He's not allowed to have a motorcycle lol. I want to make the toys and have them race.

I will get out there for sure. They won't have all the fun lol. I'm just a big guy. Not meant for kart racing.
