Can you help me identify this kart?

I bought this card for 100 bucks. They had removed the motor and tried to fabricate their own mounts for a predator motor, but I'll have to scrap all that, the workmanship is frightening and I don't think the welds would hold in a stiff wind. That being said I have no idea what kind this is. Any help would be appreciated. Have a great Sunday.

The folks I bought it from are the kind of folks who like to stay up for days at a time taking apart different mechanical things and leaving them disassembled on their lawn. I’m sure they needed the money for “supplements”.

Yes I can weld, I do MiG and TIG. That’s not a concern. As far as motor size, I’m not sure yet. Probably one of the bigger predator motors I can get from Harbor freight. As far as terrain goes, we’re talking mostly flat grass may be a little bit of groomed trail stuff.

From the pictures you posted it looks like the wheelbase of your kart is pretty short and your son is still young. I would think that a 212 or a 224 cc engine mated up to a 30 series torque converter would give you plenty. That is unless the kart is really more just for Dad, which might change desired outcome.

Eventually he’ll probably drive it but for the time being I’m just trying to rehab it. I don’t know what kind of kart it is so I don’t have any reference points to reconfigure the motor mount area to how it was initially built. Aside from the hack job they did to the rear and a slightly bent roll bar, it’s in pretty good shape. I just wish I knew what kind of kart it was originally. It’s definitely not homemade judging by the bands and the suspension work.

You're correct that is a factory made kart. If I were you I wouldn't worry too much about how the engine used to be mounted. Looks like plenty of room back there. Buy your engine, torque converter of you are going to use one, motor mount plate, and a 60 tooth sprocket and start laying things out in a manner that works for you.

Looks like you have about 32 teeth on the axle sprocket, that's really small. Thinking that original motor would have been one with built-in gear reduction, or some other thing I don't have any experience with. GY6 is a common Chinee engine, has built-in tranny, don't know much more about it. If going straightforward engine style like a Predator 212cc, you'll need to get a larger axle sprocket, like a 60-tooth, to go along with the 30 series CVT (belt-driven Constant Variable Transmission, aka: TC, or Torque Converter) you'll need to put on the engine.
Forget the original setup of engine, it's been changed up, doesn't matter. You can put an engine on any way you want to, (drill some holes/cut out some adjustment slots), bolt it down, change the axle sprocket, break a piece of chain to desired length, hit the gas.

I too cannot figure out what my sons bought. It looks like it’s a sixties Kart, but what make?, what model? I am leaning towards the Clark Cyclops and have seen others post that it looks like that. I have no idea where to look for a serial number. We welded on a fairing made out of a satellite dish I scored at the recycling center. It was my first template my son said was best. I can make any style for others too.

I like the sound of that plan. The brakes have been removed so I'll have to get that sorted as well. Rear disk but I'll have to crack it open and see if the caliper is salvageable. No pedals or master. Should not be too hard to get that figured out.

You will need a mounting plate for a small block. A 30 series TAV II CVT kit (amazon) and a Genuine Comet belt. Go to GoKart Supply website to learn all about CVTs.
