I thought gopowersports didn’t do promo codes anymore at all. And my local Montgomery’s has a stock of really nice chain although it’s expensive.
Not sure. I know that Cars and Cameras and Red Beards both still promote their discount codes, but I have never had any luck using them. Either what I want isn't eligible for discount, or I'm doing something wrong. Not bashing them - I just haven't been able to use discounts thru them.

Bonus points for the Phillips head fastener holding the clutch assembly onto the crank
Big haha to that one. Thepartsguy, have you got a handheld impact wrench and a BFH? You really need one if you don't want to strip the head out of that Phillips trying to get it tight enough, much less getting it loose after. My left hand still suffers 4 decades after banging it a hundred times with one of those impacts working on my first racing thumper, a fully stripped-down Kawasaki 350 Bighorn. They used to advertise their line of bikes as..............."Put something exciting between your legs, a Kawasaki."

I have a couple impacts and a compressor. I don’t think that’s needed on a crank bolt though. I’ll find a better bolt that was just something I found in the bin and it screwed in. I drilled and tapped the crank on my kohler. The bolt for the end of this 3hp crank is small. Might drill and tap it for a bigger bolt anyway. The clutch sadly has no set screws.

My bearings and sprocket from gopowersports fit my hub and bearing retainers perfect. I’m going out to hang the back axle in it now.

I can’t make this up the original red talon chain was an exact match to what this kart needs so I don’t even have to buy any chain it’s on it already.

I took madproffesors advice and bought some split locking collars. That’s all I’m waiting on now. Also some pictures for an update. I have to bend the rod and make the pedal stops for the band brake. And get the brake working. Fix a few broken welds holding the bottom pan. Also never got around to cleaning the fuel tank. So that’s on today’s list. Pretty concerned about those long weak stretchy springs being out by/under your feet or missing altogether. Strong believer in springs at both ends of brakes and throttles. Throttle spring on engine will pull the throttle closed as long as the distance and restrictive curves in the cable and drag of rods and the weight of the pedal don't interfere with the recoil, but you really should have that return spring on the pedal. Yours looks like a disaster waiting to happen.
There isn't a return spring for the brake at the pedal at all that I can see, not one at the band that I can see either. Lots of spring assortments out there for just a few bucks, but I recommend you get one that doesn't have 95% waste for the project being done at the time, like a gokart. Here's one of many that seems to have the heavier springs called for in a heavy mechanical movement like cables and rods...................
Amazon.com: Swordfish 30370-152pc Extension and Compression Spring Assortment : Industrial & Scientific
BTW: That's the right collars, quick change without R&R any parts, no setscrew dings in the axle, etc.

There is a heavy return spring on the carburetor itself. Along with the gas pedal return spring. The gas pedal action feels like any other yard kart even with the home made pedal. Also are no brakes at all present on the kart. The pedal stops are not even welded to the brake pedal yet. I’m going out to setup the brakes now. The brake pedal will have a trampoline spring most likely.

I have the band brake and linkage all together and on the kart it should work just like the band brake on the red talon. But I can set up the brake 100% until everything is keyed and locked down with split collars. Now I’m gonna move onto the fuel tank.

There is no keys in the back axle it’s just mocked up for when the lock collars arrive. The band brake is on and the pedal stops for the brake Pedal are welded down. It has a nice heavy return spring like the gas pedal. Nice heavy throw on the brake pedal also.4E5B91A1-9B30-4EC3-82A5-179CBE0CED39.jpeg

gopowersports is on point with shipping. Wasn’t supposed to show up till Monday but the locking collars will be delivered today. I’m being lazy and never cleaned out the fuel tank. There are two busted tack welds on the floor pan that I’ll re-weld. Anyways it was 28 degrees two days ago. And now it’s 63 degrees today. So if I get everything done I can ride it over and show the guy I bought it from.C8070C0F-109A-4652-928D-0277B8DF9A86.jpeg

took the tecumseh fuel tank mount to the drill press and made some new holes. The tecumseh tank and mount fit the kart well I think.1DFAFFCF-5AC2-42CC-A0DD-17E94CD2F6FF.jpeg

First test ride was bad. Took the 3hp off completely and threw the 5hp clone on and it runs and rides really well. Some more adjustments tomorrow and it’s definitely ready for Saturday racing.
