is it a good idea to throw a second locking collar on the outside of each hanger also?
A little hard to tell from pics below, but I'm a big fan of locking collars on both sides of everything. I only will use DOUBLE-SPLIT locking collars that slap on or off in 30 seconds without having to slide anything off the end of an axle. Pics show collars on the inside of bearings, sprockets, brakes, etc. when both sides not available, or vice-versa on the outside. Mostly both sides though.
NOTE: These collars don't have setscrews to dig into and leave burrs on axles. The 2 Allen bolts just squeeze onto the axles.

The kohler kart spindles worked! Didn’t even have to take the wheels off the spindles. Only had to make the left side tie rod a bit shorter. The steering is done. Now I can work on getting the sprocket hub off the old axle. B3A64EC6-5EDF-4E75-B876-1DC7C852BDC2.jpeg

Got the axle and the rest of the parts will be here Friday. I’ll have everything to make it a running kart. Never did get the pedals made. But I have some ideas on that. 4DDCEFB3-0EE5-4FE7-9688-860A6C0F607D.jpegF5C0D14D-6BB8-4D5A-95B5-D6E5EB0CC215.jpeg

I flush cut the axle to the hub but did not cut the key. Then I tapped the key to free it and then tapped the key right out. And the hub tapped right off. Now all that’s left is to grab the other mini bike tire and wait for parts.0B98C644-C09C-4C74-9191-23334FB325D6.jpeg

It’s not a rupp. I took that steering wheel off my cj because the original robron steering wheel was broken. Although it does have the rupp wheels. Or these are a copy of rupp wheels. I’m not sure.

Not sure exactly what I have. Itsid said kelch corp steering wheels came on robron chassis but he Wasn’t sure if the guy had a stock of turbine wheels. And the orange kart pictured has no bend in the front like mine. Who knows I could be hacking up a rupp. 101B24E4-0A3D-4763-AB6F-37CD12E0CAAB.jpeg1ED0AD22-F5D8-4033-A6DA-3424E65FAC36.jpeg53E9E7F7-0B8B-405D-91C7-731F42F1A70E.jpeg

Everything is scheduled to arrive Saturday so that’s perfect. I have some locking collars and a new spool of welding wire so I can make the pedals. Once the pedals are on I can mount the Briggs and make the throttle cable. I have a spare band brake from when I replaced the one on the red talon. The pedals on the kohler kart work so well and are so simple to recreate that I’m just gonna copy the whole pedal and pedal mount setup. I have the copy pedals made. Now I just have to make re-make the pedal mounts and place them on the kart in a comfortable place then weld the mounts down. Decided to stop being lazy and go weld the pedal mounts on.. now I can work on the throttle linkage/cable but I have to bolt the 3hp back on first. The wheel hub showed up early so the only thing left is two bearings and a sprocket from gopowersports. Then I can bolt everything together and try to run it. Maybe grind everything down and paint it? Probably just leave it look junky. ACEAEF53-0C70-428E-A082-0D5F7EBA9743.jpeg

Ask one of the mods to change the title of this thread from Manco to Robron {or Rupp, Dart Kart, etc} because it is a crime to mislabel this classic as a Manco piece o' crap...:)

I'd consider flipping it after your "restore" for a large pile of cash and finding a bona fide Manco for ripping around the yard on.
It "looks right" for what it is--it may have been repaired with booger welds, but from the photos I see, it does not appear to have
a rear end that was grafted on, at least not necessarily. I could be wrong...

Set those turbine wheels aside for shelf display or restore them, but the chrome rims looked pitted beyond repair. Anyway, too rare and fragile for rippin' around on.

The whole rear live axle setup was not welded by me. It was factory from rupp or robron and seems pretty solid. And I plan on keeping it. There is a bunch of us who built karts and we race on the dirt roads. All the karts so far have been offset two seaters and one wheel drive. I’ll be the first one to show up with a one seater that was built more for racing.

The whole throttle system is a copy and paste from the factory assembly on the red talon and the kohler kart. With pedals based off the kohler kart. No surprise it works very well. I’m super happy with the way the throttle assembly turned out. still havn’t got my parts delivered yet. my Sprocket and two axle bearings from gopowersports are at my local towns hub and will be delivered tomorrow. Today’s task is clean out the fuel tank and buy some 420 chain. Maybe run a kill switch. I really wanna cut the engine mount up and stick the electric start 8hp Briggs on it.

Go Powersports has a couple different levels of pre-stretched chain at decent prices - that is if you have a decent sized order so that shipping doesn't break the bank. I'm actually waiting for them to ship my axle bearing kits for a trike build I'm collecting parts for myself. I know I haven't had any luck using the different YouTube peoples discount codes there - it always comes back that none of my items qualify for discount.

I thought gopowersports didn’t do promo codes anymore at all. And my local Montgomery’s has a stock of really nice chain although it’s expensive.

I got a free leather couch that a dog chewed up. So I cut a big sheet of leather off the couch. filled a pillow case full with the cushioning. Then wrapped the pillowcase back up in the sheet of leather. it made a pretty comfy seat. And it even looks good on the kart. Now I need to go cut another sheet of leather and use the other pillow case to make a back cushion.B050D839-0FB6-418B-A990-2B777D619D97.jpeg
