Anybody here have any experience with one of the 223 Wildcat engines? Seems to be something that EC Carbs is involved with. 70mm bore, 58 mm stroke in a reinforced block and side cover. Apparently they have a "hi velocity" Hemi head which shares some but not all generic Hemi parts. They have a 4K RPM limited coil and a lightened flywheel. I see a lot of mention about the T/son 225's but not the Wildcat 223's. Grey Goat from OMB was doing one, but he quit posting videos for a while. I plan on doing a basic stage 1 mod to mine for a trike I'm building, but I don't expect it to be done until spring. So has anyone here used one, and if so - any feedback? Thanks

I don't have a Wild Cat personally but it'll probably be the next one I buy. They seem to be pretty solid engines and they claim to have the most torque for their size. A lot of the parts/upgrades are interchangeable with the Tillotson as well so that's definitely a plus. Good price too. I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

It looks like there are a few quirks to them that the parts don't interchange. The Wildcat has a 7 bolt side cover that is beefed up and takes a special gasket. The head is different and take 2 different length studs. I think the intake and/or the exhaust flange is different. Since I don't like the way the carb and air filter sticks out from the side of the engine I plan on making an intake to aim the carb straight back, along with a custom exhaust. Not really going for big power - I feel the "weak link" is the differential axle I have - it is a Peerless 100 with 3/4" axles. But I had 1 on the shelf and I have various mower wheels and tires for the rear, so it's cost effective. And being electric start there are no billet flywheels available anyways, so if I can see 9-10hp and 4500rpm I will be happy. When I get into the engine I will post updates.

I bought one and built it. The standard billet side cover will fit, it just doesn’t use the 7th bolt, a non hemi head will bolt right on with different bolts, clone (hemi) cams fit, as well as clone billet rod, and flywheel.

Good info - thanks.
While the non - Hemi Predator I had purchased probably would have been fine for what I'm doing, by the time I converted it to electric start and a few other mods, I still probably would have had the same money in less power and a weaker block.

A lot of people prefer the non hemi. The hemi will go right on it, but the truth is that I think the stock wild at head is better.
