I just got a Predator 420, just wondering how the throttle linkage is supposed to work. It seems to be inverse of the 212 I'm used to. At the "idle" position (throttle arm forward), the carb is actually wide open. While at full throttle on the arm, the carb is at idle. How do you set this up for use on a go kart? I'm planning to keep the stock throttle linkage.

A couple of pictures would be quite helpful. As for mounting a cable, it's definitely going to need to pull in the correct direction. That usually means the end of the cable will need to approach the throttle from the direction of pull, meaning potentially a longer cable and custom cable mounts. That's as far as I can go without pictures, and/or having both engine's in front of me, side by side.....

Ok I got it figured out. Pretty simple. All I did was swap the small gold spring from the attachment point on the carb butterfly to a part on the engine itself and tightened it down with a screw. Now it returns to idle when I let off the throttle. No drilling or modifying the linkages necessary. Pictures below:

Need to test how much change if any in the governor rpm setting came about by relocating stuff. Go ahead and terminate your throttle cable conduit under the clamp by the plug boot, and attach your cable to the pinch fitting on the manual throttle lever. Have a tachometer?
