Things we say at Christmas time to get kids to behave.

At 52 years old now I find myself looking back thinking about some of the things my parents said to us kids to try to get us to behave around Christmas time. It gave me a good chuckle thinking about it and what I have said to the girls over the years. Is there anything you have said or done or has someone said to you to try to get kids to behave.

My parents,

1. I just got off the phone with Santa if you don't straighten out he's giving your presents to orphans.
2. Your gonna get coal this year. (And we did! Dad worked at a coal fired power plant. He had access to all he wanted and we learned a valuable lesson. Don't screw with mom and dad at Christmas time.)

Me

1. Every time you misbehave and fight with each other Santa eats another of his raindeer. Please don't make him eat Rudolph. He's all Santa has left to pull the sleigh.
2. Kids fighting and misbehaving is the number one cause of global warming. Please don't make the North Pole melt any more and cause Santa to slide off into the ocean and drown. Then no one will get presents ever again.
3. I'm gonna go out to the garage (we don't have a chimney in the house) and build the hottest fire I can in the wood stove to keep Santa out of the chimney this year if you don't behave.

Here's one my mom always used: "if you see your present before Christmas, it goes back!". My 2 sisters and myself always tried to find where my parents had hidden the presents so mom told us that to get us to calm down on the looking.

It was technically a lie because she told us when we were older that she wasn't actually going to take them back, but we believed her when we were younger!
