Can I run a C.Clutch on a 1" live axle direct to drive ?

Dont want to waste a clutch if its gonna burn up too quick.

Most likely will be powered from a 212

WHAT?

No you cannot run a clutch ON an axle.. (makes 100% no sense at all!)
but you can run a cent clutch on an engine to power a live axle of course..
only question is: "what ratio you will need to not burn it"
heavy kart, large wheels, fat 455... --> very low ratio!

Thanks to all for the info....before I wasted a clutch trying

Ah clutch to axle, not clutch on axle..

Yes, that is the most basic live axle setup,
known to work (if geared correctly) and can be the cheapest solution as well as the most reliable.

How do you not know about this? How do I ask this question and not sound like I am being critical? This type of drive set-up is the basis for all karting.

To me, direct drive would mean no clutch at all. This question is indeed confusing.
I mean clutch directly to sprocket...no jackshaft or other pulley set ups

can you elaborate further on your plan?

Im building this cart to sell and I didnt want to put a bunch of money into it....Im trying to use what I have laying around

4.5hp Subaru
60 tooth sprocket
12T C.clutch
410/350-6 tires

No looking to build a speed demon...just reliable cost effective cart

make sure your 12t clutch is for the same size chain as your axle. as long as you have 15" tires or smaller and it is a small kart, you should be ok with a centrifugal clutch. Not much hill climbing ability, but pretty good all around.

With these tires "410/350-6", that set up should be good, but the tires in the photo look larger than that.

Yes,everything will fall in the guidelines you mentioned.

Im building it for flat lands...I hope they stay off the hills.

I think that I might know why those bodies are hard to find. If you search "90 road runner" this shows up (at least on my computer).
