Hello old friends and newbies! I’M BACK MOMMAH! From here on out I will try to be more active... buuuutttt that’s not the point
So, I got a couple small average jobs that I make a pretty good amount of money on, and. *inhales* I am going to buy a new dirtbike that actually fits me. I have my choices listed above. If you guys can help me in any way at all I will be eternally grateful.

I'm kinda what ever you can afford offhand vs. long run costs... If cheap but parts for it are rare or next to impossible to get... Then probably no... Equally speaking, if parts are cheap and the bike is offhand expensive... Then also maybe no...
So I'd say find a better match for most of your preferances and go from there...

Aren't KTM bikes kinda expensive here in N.America??

I was planning on buying used
But KTM would be my last option anyways.

I've had good experience with KTM's but they do come at a cost, being more expensive to buy, and some parts are more expensive than comparable japanese bikes.

I had an rm85 which was a beast for its size, pretty solid overall but I had to rebuild the top end a couple of times just due to wear and compression loss.

Has a KX100 too, which was a good running bike, however a little more complicated/ overengineered compared to the suzuki. Parts were a little more expensive. It was quick though.

Any of them would be a good option, try to find a running used bike at a decent price or maybe something that needs a rebuild even cheaper. 900-1200 for a running 85 with no major issues around 2000-2007 ish is fair. About half for a bike that needs some work, depending on how much work. Add a little more for a ktm, probably 1500 range.

I currently have a kx500, ktm450, and a drz400. Selling the drz and buying a beta300rr or ktm 300xcw for this fall.

I still love pit bikes, and have a piranha 140 china pit bike that I goon around on sometimes.

Depends.... what type of riding do you plan on doing? How heavy are you?


I've been riding for 30 plus years everything from a cr80 in 1991 to my current XR650l...….. and everything in-between including a CR500 and KX500.


The bikes you have listed are for light weight people on motocross tracks and would not be the best choice for a middle age male to trail ride.... but maybe you are 15 and want to race motocross.... I don't know

Or find a nice used 125cc and grow in to it so you can keep it longer.
