ok so my briggs 5 hp MOD#135212 was running great all of a sudden the thing started staying at full throttle disconected the throttle linkage ran it same thing stick wide open and wont return to idle unless shut off. it will start n idle but when you open throttle a lil it goes wide open and sticks there. please give some ideas.

where can i find some diagrams of what im removing? and do i need to re run throttle cable to get full throttle?

is the throttle cable adjusted properly? take the cable loose at its clamp, hold the sheath while actuating the throttle pedal. if you get full actuation, retighten. if not opening all the way, pull the cable. if too much push the cable. this is a flat head?

update

ok so i tore motor out of cart started tearing it apart. i need a clutch puller. my ? is while i have the clutch apart is there any thing i can do to make it engage a lil smoother? it is 2 metal shoes. now it is jumpy when we go to take off. any 1 got some ideas?

Idk clean it all off and what not and i guess you can sand the hub.

Is this a 5hp flathead? If so, the governor is very easy to take off. It is just behind the side cover.

how do i tell the difference? also can any one explain the difference between pulse n non pulse carbs?

If it has Overhead Valves wrote on it, or is the head comes off to the side, it is a OHV engine. If it comes straight up with the sparkplug on top and a "flat" head. It is a Flathead.

A pulse carb uses the engines natural suction to pull the gas into a bowl below the carb. A non pulse carb can only suck a small ways and needs gravity or a fuel pump to receive fuel.

witch one is better? i have both i think a briggs 5 hp is pulse. and a honda 6.5 gx 200 not sure if its pulse. i need to rplace carb on honda so trying to determine waht i need.

OHV is better, but 5HP Briggs & Stratton engines are VERY popular.
