Hi - I have a trailmaster mid xrx and I'd like to start some heavy duty performance mods. The engine is black and the only thing I can see as a model anywhere is "168F 6.5" on the side of the engine. The specs from the manufacturer for the engine show 200cc and the following:

Max Horsepower: 6.3hp/3600rpm
Max torque: 9.6lb ft/3600rpm
Bore and Stroke: 2.6 x 2.1 inches

I'm wondering if there are any part compatibility issues i'll run into if I just assume this is the same thing as a Honda GX200? I see parts available for Predator 212 and 198cc clones and I believe sometimes they match and sometimes they don't.

Anyone know who actually makes this engine and if its ok to just assume its GX200. Or do I need to measure my existing internals before replacing with aftermarket. For instance I want to replace the billet rod when I replace the flywheel...

if i were a betting man, id say you have a JIANGDONG GX160 clone. So a honda gx160 is NOT the same as a honda gx200.

So the 168 sure makes it seem like a gx160 clone, but a 6.5 makes it seem like a gx200. Search differences in bore/stroke etc between teh gx200 and gx160 and you will soon find out.

To top it all off, given your bore/stroke, its actually showing as a 182.7cc engine so HELLIFIKNOW!?!

Hmmm...i checked the gx200 specs and it’s the same bore and stroke. I guess that at least tells me the intervals should be the same as gx200. Unless the valves and heads and gaskets could be different?.

Unless i read it wrong...

A 196cc clone should take Honda gx200 / Clone parts.
Parts are listed as Predator (Non-Hemi), Predator (Hemi), and Honda/Clone.
Get Honda / Clone Parts.

I think Alex knows about 160F vs 168F vs 168F-2.
Lifan? Jiangdong?... I don't know this stuff.

But I know 4.8 kilowatts = 6.5 HP = 196cc Clone = GX200 Parts
4.1 kilowatts = 5.5 HP = 163cc Clone = GX160 Parts (many of which are the same as GX200 Parts).

All you have to do is count the horses.

The other one looks to be GX120 stuff.

Call ARC. They will get you all you need. I'm 99% sure KartFab would have lost that money he was going to bet! LOL

A flywheel will be the same for a 160 (163cc) or 200 (196cc) engine. The connecting rod length will probably be different.

Yea maybe i'm overthinking it and when I need a part I should just rely on the parts supplier to get me the correct thing. Still kinda bugs me that I don't know the exact engine I have and a service manual with torque settings, etc.

To make things more complicated I double checked and my invoice from 2013 clearly calls out "200cc". Yet when I look around the Internet I've seen my Trailmaster Mid XRX offered with a 196cc or a 200cc engine. So I assume Trailmaster changed engines at some point...

196cc engines are 200cc engines. 200 just sounds nicer. Anybody claiming 200cc's is a liar. GX200's have 196cc's.

:roflol: Which is why i dont bet ahaha!

But even in the image I shared, it says 160F is a GX120 Clone, 168F is a 5.5HP GX160 clone and the 168F-2 is the 6.5 GX200 Clone. So it is by no means clear.

Like you said, 6.5HP sounds like gx200 clone. 168F sounds like gx160 clone. Then again, somebody could have just slapped that fan shroud on that engine, or that sticker on that shroud. I doubt the kids in the sweatshops care if the sticker says 168F or 168F-2

That's easy. If the stroke is 2.1 inches (54mm) you have a 196cc clone.

The stroke on the gx160 is 45mm. Bore on both engines is the same at 68mm. 168=68mm bore. If you had a 208 or 212cc you would have a "170" engine. It has a 70mm bore.
