I recently had some kind of problem where I burnt out my TrailMaster 200cc TC driver unit. So I went on eBay and found a replacement for that unit.

I'm now having a problem with belts getting destroyed after a short amount of driving. I looked closely and the driven unit flat sheave part seems to be no longer flat and seems warped. So i'm going to replace that unit as well.

The prices for a 6" diameter and 5/8" bore driven unit are all over the place. I can get something on eBay that looks like its a match for a good deal less than if I buy it from a site selling official "trailmaster parts".

Besides getting the diameter and bore and symmetry (asymetric) correct does it really matter which unit I buy out there? Are they all the same or do they come with different springs or weights that I have to match as well?

Thanks!

I'd be inclined to say the belt matters. Buy a comet belt, not a cheap ebay belt. Pay the $25 or $30 for a comet belt.

As far as Trailmaster vs eBay for the driven Unit, It doesn't matter...

You can replace the driven unit with a 7" unit for more bottom end, better acceleration, and longer belt life (if you have a 6" now). The bigger pulley needs a longer belt.

Thanks for the tip - I will have to think about the 7" as i'll trade better bottom end for a slight loss of top end right?

In terms of belts I've read a lot on this forum about not getting the "cheap ebay" belts. The ebay belts for my kart are like $7 vs. $20 from the proper sites that advertise them as "trailmaster" belts. Here's the thing....the "trailmaster belts" are Chinese made and there are no "comet" belts available as far as I can tell.

I'd prefer to buy the quality and not have to replace belts all the time. Is there a certain belt manufacturer I should be looking for and just match it to my trailmaster 80T asymmetric belt with the same length, width, and thickness? Or for trailmaster its all junk from 1 mfg in China and I should just go with the cheapest I can find?

I assume the $20 belts are the same as the 7 dollar belts
I am not sure. I didn't know there was a special belt for the trialmaster.

Belt Width, Driven Pulley Size, Distance from Driver Pulley to Driven Pulley, and symmetrical or asymmetrical.. That info and you MIGHT be able to find the proper COMET belt. You use a jackshaft, correct? - Not a backplate to mount the driven unit?

Is this a Buggy or a minibike?
If the buggy, the tire size and gearing may be causing issues.
Small engines, large tires, and gearing for high speed might be rough on a 30 series.
