So today at around 9:00 PM my friend and I got pulled over on my CT200U and CT200u-EX. We were in a small/abandoned neighborhood which we've rode around for about a year now. We even had a cop pass us once before and ignored us while I was riding my CT200U and my friend riding my go kart. Anyways, It was getting dark and we were at a 3 way stop. I was letting my friend lead the way since I always do and he said for me to choose, I choose right(the funny part is if we turned left it would've led back to home) and as soon as we started going, a cop was straight ahead, turned on his lights and we were stopped dead in our tracks. Now by no means am I trying to justify our actions what so ever but we were really comfortable riding on these back roads and when he turned on his lights I knew we had f***** up. Now after the cop asked our ages (I'm 16 and my friend is 15) he told us to lead us to my house. After 1 mile of riding back to my house with him tailing behind I go get my mother and he lectures about us being 3 miles away and how he almost hit us. He also said that he could've taken our parents to court, and us to juvie, and made it to where we couldn't get licenses and basically ruin our lives over mini bikes. Like I said above, I'm not trying to justify our actions, we knew it was illegal and still did it so all the fault is on us, but to ruin a couple of kids lives over 2 mini bikes seemed a little crazy. Anyways he left without giving us a ticket but wrote down our names. Also he said we were 3 miles away and after looking on google maps where we were pulled over at, it was actually exactly 1 mile. And he said that he almost hit us when both us and the cop were going like 10 mph since we just turned onto the road. The conclusion to all of this is we're not going to be riding on the road anymore, but that will not stop me building mini bikes/go karts and riding them. Just hope nothing goes on our record since he said that he wouldn't do anything unless we do it again.

Once again, nothing I said justify our actions and we know that we shouldn't be riding unauthorized vehicles but I just had to share this for others to be aware cause it was fun and games for us until we got caught, I guess now I'll start making some trails on my property and build more with offroading in mind now lol.

If there's some way like it is here in Nebraska to make it street legal, I'd do it in a heart beat. Granted may need a motorcycle endorsement on your license when you get it, but it'll be well worth it.

That sucks! That whole story he gave about ruining your lives would have been just to scare you. I wouldn't worry about anything going on record. That only happens when there is an arrest or court involved

Staying off public roads is good practice but that cop was trying to scare you. He couldn't have taken you to Juvie and all he could have done is given you and/or your parents traffic tickets. At least in NY he could have impounded the bikes and given you and your buddy some serious enough tickets like unlicensed operation, unregistered/uninsured vehicle. Which if convicted would be a problem when it came time to get your driving license. But that would take a lot of time and work for that cop which he probably can't be bothered doing over a couple kids on minibikes.

Take it as a learning experience. Stay keep off public roads as much as possible to avoid this in the future.

Depending on your state laws, you MIGHT be able to do a few things like turn signals and mirrors and register them as mopeds. Biggest hurdle might be engine displacement. But many states allow you to get a moped license at 14 or 15 years old too.

Don't sweat it. This is a typical scare tactic for them to over exagerate.

Best thing you did was stop. Running from the cops in a vehicle is an easy way to catch a felony. Or worse, end up dead like the kid a few years ago trying to evade a cop on a Baja Warrior mini bike.

Also did your mama give you a whoopin? :roflol:

Haha, I explained and she understood how the cop was exaggerated with being "3 miles away" and "almost getting ran over". She was mad at me cause she hates me driving on the road with them. But as my parents and my friend's parents explain it, he really had a stick up his a$$ that day. I'm not driving on the road again with them cause of that too, but It hasn't deteriorated me from building mini bikes! :p

When I was A kid my junk got towed so many times. I was lucky though I knew the tow owner and he just gave us kids our junk back no charge after the cops released it. Ahh, the fun I had as a kid, too bad that was over 40 years ago.

I thought about that. Peel off the 212cc, paint the shroud pink and have a custom "moped 50cc" sticker made on eBay, cover the entire engine in fairings, put in a fake gear shift that reads "overdrive" in one slot if he wants to know why you're going 50mph. I'm actually serious lol.

Good idea until he gets caught and in even bigger trouble!
