Looks good to me but how do you read that plug? Seriously.

The flat end of the threads on a normal plug indicate mixture, the color change on the elbow tells heat and the porcelin color........
None of that on that new fandangle plug of yours.......

I don't know. LOL.
Flying Hillbilly didn't know how to read these plugs either and he was one of the more experienced plug readers on here.

I might try normal plug to use for tuning purposes.

Born Poor, going to die Poor.

Hey at least you got social security to look forward to. Just jokin ', you millenials really don't have much to look forward to. I mean other than getting to work until your 80's. Kidding again, I'm sure some disease or something will wipe most of you guys out.

It's all about the power of positive thinking.

There is a reason my retirement plan involves living off grid in a house on wheels down by the river.

Free candy too?

I will not be giving anything away for free. And I expect sugar to be a hot commodity. If I have candy, I will have made it from scratch, for the sole purpose of bartering with. It amazes me how much faith everyone has in our make believe monetary system. It is like putting a refrigerator in a refrigerator. LOL (just kidding, I just thought that was a funny analogy.)

You work for 50+ years of your life. Why? So you can pay taxes.
Taxes which pay off the interest on the loans our government takes from the Federal Reserve.

Look at a simplified model.
There is no currency in circulation.
US Government wants $100.
Federal Reserve Prints $100 (out of thin air)
Federal Reserve loans US Government $100, but charges interest.
US Government owes the Federal Reserve $110.

But there is only $100 printed. Where does the other $10 come from? Hmmmm???

According to Wikipedia, I am an Xennial. A member of the Oregon Trail Generation!!! You have no idea how awesome trips to the Library to play Oregon Trail were. People dying of dysentery. Tuff choices like caulk the wagon, ford the river, or wait for the ferry. I want to play right now!

1.2 on the intake.
Stock on the exhaust, which might be anywhere from 1.0 :1 to 1.1 :1.

So 5.26” pushrod On Intake and 5.44” pushrod on Exhaust Side.

Lets clean up that permatex gasket. I'm either getting good or bad at Permatex gasket making. It was not easy removing the valve cover after using ultra grey (IIRC) instead of making a new gasket out of gasket material.

I put a 0.42mm pilot jet in my carb (had a 0.38mm).
And I drilled out my main jet to ~2.05mm (was drilled to 1.6mm).

2.05mm
0.080"
205 Keihin Jet Size
170 Mikuni size

That is my biggest "micro" bit so I'll start there I guess.
My 1.9mm bit and 2.0 mm bit measure about the same.
My next smaller bit measures aboiut 1.83mm (on my cheap calipers).

But I am tempted to start this engine without a carb, using carb cleaner. Heck, don't people use WD-40 to start engines?

Put a BP6ES plug in there for Plug Reading / Tuning Purposes.
Tried to start it with no carb using carb cleaner. It didn't start, but it at least tried to.
Then I tried to put the carb on and start it for real.
Gas everywhere.

Took the carb and bowl off. I think the pin holding the float was only half way in. I was going to bend the tang for the float, but want to make sure it wasn't just the pin.

If it fails, take it apart and put it back together.

While I was trying to get it started after I fixed the float, my work called for me to come in early. I wasn't able to get it started with the 42 jet before I had to shower.

I'll go back to the 38 and make sure I can still start my engine in the morning.
Things I've changed since it was running last.

Different jets
Different plug
Different Valve Springs
Different Rocker Arm and pushrod on the intake side
Different Head Gasket

Put the 38 pilot back in, put the carb back on, and set the fuel tank as before. Started flooding again. I did lift the tank "high", but it is a tight fit putting the bowl on. Not sure if the float is getting stuck or what. There's a tube coming up for the bottom of the bowl that might be causing an issue if the bowl is not installed carefully????

Took the bowl off and put it back on. No more flooding.

Anyway, didn't want to start. Took the plug out and the carb off. Going to let it air out for a bit and try again.

Did I ever say how much I dislike these engines?

Well I guess I broke it???
Going to have to take the valve cover off, go back inside, and figure out what I did wrong.
Tried to start it with the smaller jet and couldn't get it fired up before it started raining.

Tomorrow I should have some time to get it going. If I can't get it started after looking inside the valve cover, I'll have to check the flywheel key. Maybe the key I cut has been sheared.

The Dr. said I'd come down with a case of the Tecumseh's.

Ok, reset the valve lash. It seems as though I had preloaded the intake valve spring.
Before resetting the lash, I couldn't feel compression with my thumb on the spark plug hole.
Now I feel something with my thumb on the spark plug hole.

Re-RTV'd the valve cover. 30 minutes and I'll tighten it down and try to start it up. I'm fairly confident that should fix my no start issue. Think my flooding issue is resolved (for now). Only because the float bowl when on easily and smoothly, where before I struggled to fit it on.

And work called me in. I told them they would have to wait til my engine got started.
If the lash didn't fix it, then I'll probably look at the flywheel key next. But since I will be working indefinitely (at least for the foreseeable future) I'm not sure when I will get to it.
