So I just bought one that is basically brand new, was a Christmas present that the kid was too small for and they were selling it cheap. I want to put a torque converter on it but it has the 5/8 shaft. I know gopower has the whole kit with tha 5/8 to 1in adapter but I have a brand new kit from gopower (1in clutch) sitting in my work shop since the project I bought it for I didn’t end up using it. I’d rather not spend $180 for a whole new kit when all I need is the shaft adapter. Anyone know where I might be able to get one? I will call gopower on Monday to see if they sell them sperately but figured I would ask.

I didn't know 196cc engines had 5/8" shafts.

Me either. From my research it’s because so a clutch with pin bearings can be used or something similar to that. I just assumed my torque converter kit would work but that is what I get for assuming.

Using a sleeve like that means that the driver unit bore cannot have an integrated key, right?

Does the driver unit have a built in key?

I guess that integrated key makes things difficult.

Yep, the driver has the integrated key... I can find just sleeves all day long but the integrated key does make it interesting. I’ll call gopower on Monday see if they sell those separately. If not o guess I’ll use the clutch until it goes bad then spend the $180 for the kit. Still seems a tad expensive for what looks like an eBay torque converter with spacers and the sleeve. Oh well supply vs demand

Last time this came up I think I suggested grinding away half of the integrated key and cutting the stepped key in half. I think the OP in that thread decided there wouldn't be enough length of key holding everything together for his liking.

Well boo, GoPower does not sell the adapter bushing by itself. Their's go from 5/8 to 1in so a 1in driver will be required... which I also have sitting in the garage.
