So starting the new project finally. Going for a mini Indy car style or shifter kart in a 2 seater with a safe cage. So ended up with this 3rd generation Yerf dog Spiderbox for the base design. I would like to be able to take it to the drag races , sand drags , and SCCA solo local stuff. So hopefully I can do multiple things locally with it.

Will get wide tires, new roll cage on top, front and rear brakes, and of course a 600cc or bigger sport bike engine for power.

Thinking about a paddle shift setup also maybe but we will see how the budget goes.

It was free and I see why ! Front bulkhead is really messed up but I can fix it. So we will start at the front and work our way back since that’s the worst part of what I need to use.

Reinforcements and fixing the ugly box. Could have bought a nice one from bmi but you still have to reinforce and weld all the regular stuff up as this is a common problem on these. So I shall save it and save my $50 for a new one...................

Haha I was beginning to wonder.

And I have came up with a full proof way of fixing the front suspension on the arms also. Gonna cut the ends off and put tube adapters with rod ends for fully double adjustable front suspension ! Oh this build is gonna be awesome. Might be going a touch overboard this go around or.................. aw nah !

I really wish this stupid cold weather would leave ! Haven’t been able to do anything cause it’s so cold. On a side note did get the a arms welded up so now they have the above said rod ends in them now. It’s also getting welded bungs on the other end so I can put screw in ball joints also along with full Yamaha Banshee / warrior style front end plus brakes !!!

Half of the A-Arms are done. Gotta weld the other side. It will have regular rod ends on all corners to make parts more findable for later upgrades. Also putting in high misalignment spacers for the spindle side but I doubt I really need them.

Pics finally ................

And mock up says I don’t need misalignment spacer as said prior. So I shall save my money and weld the new bungs in to finish the a arm upgrades..............

I officially have ordered everything to set the front end on the ground ! Yay that means progress. Expect updated pics here within the next few weeks. After I set it on the ground I will figure out what length coil overs I need for the front finally. Then I can build my rear swing arm and get the axle stuff and roll it around

What motor you gonna run

I can get a complete cbr600 for about $700 but I want bigger. So not positive yet. I’m building it to run a single digit 1/4 mile so I need a 1000 or bigger with a turbo setup but I might use the 600 for now to dial in the chassis. I’m thinking about making a full fiberglass body around the chassis also. Kinda like a mini cobra kit car or something of my design. With a mid engine of course.

And I got the reinforcement plates profiled and now a little welding and the whole front end is fully adjustable with Yamaha brakes and wheels !

If you aren't too sure of what engine you are getting....what are you doing regarding the engine mount? Will you only do that when you eventually get the engine?

Yes sir. I will wait to fabricate the rear swingarm and engine mount til I have the engine in my possession. Don’t wanna redo it twice. So you can guess I am really close to needing one so it shouldn’t be long.
