Pics needed of a carter 2336 -3017

Does anyone on here have a carter 2336 -3017 I need some pics of the drive side back wheel set up as far as brakes go

Normally one loop on the brake band goes around the brake rod going to the pedal and the other loop goes onto a welded stud on the kart frame. The band goes around the drum which is bolted to the wheel. There should be a return spring near the brake pedal also to help keep the band from dragging. Hopefully this is similar to your setup.

Maybe these might help. Carter is out of business and resources regarding their karts is limited. Brake band setups are usually pretty simple though. Sometimes just trying a few combinations works out.

Take note that the rod is connected to the bottom of the brake band. Regardless of how you set it up,( some here have used cables), envision the fact that the frictional should try to close the band tighter, and not loosen it.

This how my Carter kart is setup, not same model as yours, but pretty close. These are older pics, I can take some better ones when I get a chance.

That is the correct way of mounting the brake band and it's actuator rod.

THIS IS NOT!

Take note that the rod is connected to the bottom of the brake band. Regardless of how you set it up....

And that's why it's technically incorrect..
this way the friction of the band/drum is trying to work AGAINST the actuation of the driver.
(it's trying to loosen back up)

if it's mounted like in the first pic (the blue kart) the friction is working in your favour, not only slowing the kart, but also acting in the same direction as the actuator rod (pulling the band even closer)

Soooo.. both could work,
but the red kart needs a lot more pedal force for the same stopping power ...

The setup still looks like the basic setup explained earlier. The rod going to the pedal is going through one loop of the brake band and the other loop of the brake band is fastened to a stationary post or stud. Just a basic friction device that squeezes the brake drum when the pedal is pressed. Not a whole lot to those setups.
