I don't know for sure but it is possible that only the exhaust valve has a lash cap, actually a rotator.

It's running . only one problem.When I let the choke off its revs all the way up. guess I'll just mess with the throttle springs and stuff and see if I can fix it.

Pushrods not in place... would be my diagnosis.

Loosen Throttle Arm Nut (center of throttle plate) and Add Throttle Return Spring.

As I mentioned before, I took the govenor off. Would that let it rev like that? I have a throttle control spring already, at least it looks like this...

Turn Idle RPM screw on the carb counter-clockwise.
Make sure the butterfly is all the way closed.
Add another spring so you get a crisp snap back to closed when you let off.
Show pictures of your throttle linkage.

I have moved the screw both ways all the way and it has no effect.Also, when its sittind with the choke on I move the throttle and it doesnt do anything.

Throw this engine in a dumpster. Go to Harbor Freight buy a new one. Leave it the hello alone.

The choke is *a choke*, which if properly working will bog your engine down, esp when warm. Why are you running it with the choke on, genius?

Kinda hard to tell what your current issue is but I heard you got it running.

In the extreme, I say take it back to the store for an exchange. Throwing engines in dumpsters is not my thing. That Mr Knowitall sure is a chump.

Maybe money grows on trees in his universe....

tgus3, it's likely that you do have some springs or linkage messed up. It's possible that you have an air leak, but it sounds like you're using the choke as a throttle.

This may seem like a dumb question (you never know) but, are you sure the throttle is closed? It should be resting against the idle screw...

If you connected the return spring the wrong way around, it will be holding the throttle open, not closed...

What he said^. The throttle plate is basically completely closed at idle speeds.

However, if your spring is situated to hold it open, why, that would be hilarious if it was affixed that way. A reverse throttle. Vrooooooom!

I'd start with unhooking those springs on top, throttle cable too. Hook one spring up so it closes the throttle. You might need a throttle kit. What you have going on there isn't going to work.

I just had an idea I had to get a new crankshaft for this engine and ity turned out o be a 20mm instead of 3/4 in.The one I got was $30.3/4 in. would be $60 at least.Thats over half of a 212 predator What with these problems I think I could just get a predator, put some of the better quality honda parts on it, and have a higher hp engine wich is what I want
