Figured I'd introduce myself before I wait too long and then it becomes awkward. I'm from the Rio Grande Valley, I love tools and anything mechanical (particularly 60-80s GM vehicles). Kinda works out because they provide an excuse or justification for one another.

Was working on a drift bike (hot rod magazine tutorial), unfortunately I sustained a finger injury at work and that has me sidelined at the moment (I'm hesitant to use power tools around a finger which I have reduced mobility/feeling in).

When I took part of my finger off in college with an angle grinder, I was back at it after I got it cleaned out. Shocked myself a number of times welding too, so probably have nerve damage in my hands. Regardless of injury, get back on the horse and keep on going. Welcome to the board.

The plan is to downscale, or at least stop hoarding them. They're so freaking cool though. I'm bringing my last one home tomorrow, which has been stashed at my parents for years.

I'm with you on their attraction to us men. Something primeval, it is.

The older cars are just better ones imho. Honest, mechanical simplicity before everything got computerized and plastic. I love anything with an engine that's accessible, you know?

Gotta love a car or truck where there's enough room under the hood to sit on either side of the engine.

That looks like a 60-something Chevy Impala.

When I was a youngster, we made a family trip to Big Bend.

One of the wildest things was finding a skunk on the back porch of the cabin, and petting it. Funny how wild animals adapt to people when all they get are free treats!

Its like at work.... I don't try to learn people's names til they have been there at least a month. If they survive long enough to still be there when we hire another, then they are allowed a name... instead of "Newbie."

I agree wholeheartedly! I have even told a few guys that. Ususally they just get the point.
Makes it fun after they have been there for a while and they tell their side of the story looking back.
Usually something like "man I used to think you were a d!@k, Its kinda funny to think now that I know you"


So an introduction at anytime is just fine.
