How dry was your original material, and how much of this "Rosin" do you suspect to be water?

I wonder how it might work with garden fresh herbs like oregano, Cilatro, or dill and things like that?
It might make for a good flavoring concentrate in cooking or canning.

I suppose one could copy your idea, but are you going to sell these?

The starting material I used was (smokable) dry.

IDK like 30%-40% moisture content.

It will extract out of any oil bearing plant material.

I am not sure about garden herbs but, if they contain oil, yes it will.

This concept of heating & pressing has been used for a long time to extract things like Olive oil & on many kinds of oil bearing seeds such as cotton seed & sunflower.

I believe the term rosin comes from or refers to heat pressing the rosin out of pine trees.

Yes, They are for sale & I have sold a few.

For the record,

The OYO Press (complete ready to use right out of the box) is currently selling for $495.00 + shipping. (~40 lbs.)

A lower cost alternative, (if you have a bench vise) is a simpler design I played around with called SquareBack jaws.

A flat iron with a set of these pressing plates is currently selling for $49.95 + shipping (~5 lbs.)

Or if anyone wanted to DIY it's a simple design.

Use 1/4" or 5/16" - 3" x 3" pressing plates & a 3/16" x 2" SquareBack enclosure.

As you can see 1/8" enclosure did NOT hold up.

The concept was to make it drip

instead of just spreading on the parchment paper

It's a lot less work to collect (1) big drop (chill-n-pop off into a container)

than to scrape up a puddle

I'm old school too

The main reason I designed the OYO Press, is to help Ohioan's (who want to comply) comply with Ohio's new medical marijuana laws.

The braniacs down in Columbus, Oh passed a law where a patient can ONLY vape, consume edibles or use topical lotions

...but, NO SMOKING what so ever

...they don't feel that it's medicinal ingested in that form (like they know)

I have found that it's more convenient & discrete to vape right out in public (no one knows what your vapin') than to huddle in a corner like the "old days"

...& there is a tremendous difference in the smell

...so little in fact that, I have vaped @ Spaghetti Warehouse, before & no one even had a clue

...& you don't reek of that distinctive "earthy" odor after
