Move engine or shorter jackshaft?

So I want to replace the centrifugal clutch with a torque converter, but there isnt enough width between the jackshaft and the engine for the driven. What should I do?

It looks as if the driven unit may fit.

Buy the TC. and start mocking it up till it fits. Yes you will have to move stuff around, but thats DIY.

I know it wont fit, i measured the TC on my friends kart. I just dont know whether i should move the engine or shorten the jackshaft to fit it (which one is easier or better?)

You want a torque converter (yes) Great get one and stop dreaming,

then you can start messing around trying to fit it in. Mine didit fit but that didn't stop me from buying one

Anything is possible. Some things just take longer.

Step 1: order torque converter
Step 2: cut and weld as required to make it work.

My bad, I guess this post was a bit misleading. I'm referring to the spacing between the jackshaft and the fuel tank is not wide enough, so I need to move either the engine over or shorten the jackshaft casing. I'm just wondering which is more structurally sound?

You haven't even mentioned what engine this is...

yes, we see the gap. looks like you might have to mod both. Remember if you move the motor over your chain placement moves, the jack shaft is going to get modified ether way. Start with pulling the jack and leave the motor. install the TC and then..see what you got...then redesign the jack. yes a longer shot would help us see the entire rear end. then we can talk motor movement. you may just have to raise the motor, we can't tell.

Ya... It is...

Cut that bracket off in between the sprocket and clutch..

Then I'm assuming you'll have lots of room.
