Rear wheel drive - Axle help

My brother got this Go Kart frame and he said I could build it. Im totally new to Go Karts and wanted to start by mounting a rear axle, the Go Kart doesn't have holes all the way through the frame. What would be the best procedure to put in a rear axle. What type of axle should I use? If you could name the parts so I could buy them online or at a hardware store, thanks!

Pillow blocks work great for mounting axles you just bolt them on, and there cheap.
I use 1 inch axle.

Yes. That just supports the engine mount Wont support any thing alse. You Still need to get proper bearings.

Good eye, I saw that too but not that it was welded on.
I thought it was one of those things where you're wrenching on something and you walk away for a moment leaving the wrench on the nut.

Again, the OP is telling us it's a "go kart" but I'm not seeing it.

Update: I ordered two 30mm pillow block bearings, and enquired about a 30mm round bar. Ordered a disc brake caliper with wiring and a brake rotor and a sprocket axle carrier 30mm.

Do yourself a favor, haul that thang to the dump... Start a new build , You'll save yourself a lot of frustration ..
