I'm about to pack up and ride my new bike to CA.
There's lots of crap to go wrong, but a flat is a real deal breaker anywhere.

Does anyone know of any drawbacks to sliming a tubeless motorcycle tire before finding a nail?

I dont think it will reseal or keep air in.
Fix a flat may be your only friend.

Edit: forget that. Just read this on slime site,
Since 1989, Slime has been the world’s safest and most effective sealant. When a puncture occurs, our patented sealant is carried directly to the puncture. The pressure of the escaping air forces the Fibro-Seal® particles into the opening, where they build up and intertwine to form a long-lasting, flexible plug. Instantly, air loss is blocked and a flat tire is prevented.

I just read that too.

Plug kit and co2 cartridge?
Bike flats suck. Always out in the middle of nowhere.

Im not sure if you can patch a tire after it's been slimed.
That would certainly be a draw back if the slime didn't work.
Then again, I read slime is water soluble, so if the tire had to come apart, it could be cleaned out.
