A pail, uneventful; a puddle, different story...

It's not the liquid that ignites, it's the vapours...

Diesel non flammable?
Diesel, Kerosene, jet fuel, same thing.
Supposedly it burns hot enough to melt steel.

Not exactly true; for starters, diesel has nothing to do with kerosene whereas jet fuel is kerosene based...

Diesel will only ignite under pressure; in atmospheric conditions, it's almost inert...

Try throwing a lit cigarette into a pail of gas sometime.
It's rather uneventful.

Not a thing like in the movies.

Yep...growing up in the olden times, we didn't have all these newfangled citrus base ecofriendly bisexally degradable cleaners. We used gasoline or kerosene. And gasoline was easier to find.

And YES!!! Had a buddy that took great pleasure in flicking lit cigarettes into my wash pan of gasoline.

And diesel, jet fuel, kerosene, and gasoline are all petroleum based and flammable.

MOTOR OIL is flammable!

It's what conditions are necessary to IGNITE them.
