Bike gearing on a go kart (ideas)

This post will just be a parts list for making the chain and sprocket gearing system, but I'll definitely need ideas for how the other parts could be fabricated. Like the guide to move the chain to each sprocket, the chain tensioner, and the hub that holds however many sprockets.
Here is the bearing that the hub will sit on, so I could use a 1-5/8" ID tube to rest on that bearing and weld some "spokes" that will hold the sprockets..
Drop some ideas though!

You need a spacer between each sprocket so the chain will slide on.
Now you owe me 35% of the profits.

Plus you already agreed to my contract.
Don't make me find you and sue you for my 35% AND sue for an extra percentage for taking my idea. That chain wont just slide onto the sprocket without the spacer. We're talking hundredths of an inch here.

I've had no misgivings that it can be done on a bicycle--just basically replace your leg power with a small engine.

Now if you can do it all on a heavier go kart with 4 solid steel wheels and a seat (just like we all know and love), then you will have my undivided attention and...

Here's an idea FWIW.
An extension of the drive shaft so the driving gear (clutch, or whatever) can slide in and out on it.
Instead of a standard derailer, you'd have to have something like a movable chain tensioner that would lift or push down on the chain instead of dragging it.
If the driving gear could move, the chain would stay straight for the most part.

You'd probably need a set of forks to guide the drive gear into position as well.

that's genious! the tensioner could just be a spring hooked to a the two bolts at the front of the engine..

Here's another idea, what if, instead of a derailleur/fork system, what if a lever moved the engine over and inch or so?

Fund me. I don't know.

hmm split sprockets.. four parts instead of the common two...
and a multisprocket hub that only moves the quartersection of the axle sprocket that's currently not in contact with the chain...

sure a tensioner will be needed, maybe even a two roller system (to shift back down onto a larger sprocket)... but it might work. *shrugs*

plus you could shift under load since the load bearing parts on the sprocket are not part of the shifting process.
one axle rotation and the next gear is set..

I think you could almost get up to three sprockets into an inch of hub-width or say five in two inches...
not too bad actually... and not too far off from a bicycle chain derailleur (it just desn't move the chain, instead it moves a sprocket segment)

just a thought
