Anywho, glad to be here and see some of the projects you guys have or are working on. My son and I just picked up our winter project. After a bit of research I'm thinking its a MANCO. If anyone can help out any further on that I'd appreciate it. The previous owner started to paint it and well he didn't get much further than that. I plan on stripping it down and bringing it back to her glory days. It has a 5hp Tecumseh power sport engine that's not even bolted down to the frame, pulls over. Are these good engines? Should I look for something different? I don't want to spend a lot of money doing this kart but I do want it to be reliable and safe for my kid. Shoot me any input, thank you in advance. Welcome! Get the engine running, it'll behave itself if you keep the carb clean.

Everything but the headrest looks like Fox 2..Post a pic of the center of the steering wheel and see if you can figure out the original paint color.

I'll take a picture of the steering wheel when I can get out there. Original color I believe is red. I see some scratches and poor painting where the red shows through.

Heh heh, I don't think that's a reliable indicator since a great many karts have a gold sticker with "Manco" printed on it there.

It's probably way too technical for you to grasp....but if there is a fox face in the center of the steering wheel....it confirms it's a fox.

He has already said it was red...so ...with the face...it would be a Red Fox 2.

Well Doug was hoping for a RedFoxII decal (indeed a red fox face) instead of the Manco decal you see on other Mancos

it's a 415 of some sort
say a 391 or something (wheels have changed.. sometimes the engine model.. chassis and all other parts are almost always identical except for color and decals of course)

Well....crap!!!! It's missing!!!! That's why we like pics....and why I didn't just ask if it had a Fox face. A simple no answer would lead us to believe it WASN'T a Fox.

Notice that I said the face would confirm a Fox....a different center would pretty much eliminate it...AFAIK.

The lack of a center decal leaves it open either way....I'll posts some pics that may help if you are careful stripping and the decals were simply painted over.

What I was hoping to see.

Bear with me...my phone is not loading pics!!!!

OK...on mine....there are a left and right of these....just the general outline will confirm Fox. There's also a smallish squarish decal just in front of the driver's seat that has the model #....if you can razor blade around it and get lucky enough the paint just peels off..you may be able to read it.
