I imagine most people who drag race mini bikes on the streets of Detroit don't spend $1000 making a stock looking 212cc. I'm sure there is no passing tech inspections. I'm the only one who doesn't race in a class but wants to build engines like I do. lol

I've seen lots of big blocks and turbos and nitrous.
With the stock carb on, mine should look stock, well Stage 1 I mean. lol

Been Reading up on the Predator 212 w/ TAV swap for the TS-500....

Seems like an issue with most minibikes and TAVs is a clearance or angle issue. The engine needs to be raised, or the TAV plate rotated, or the support for the jackshaft has to be ground.

I think I'll have this same issue when upgrading to the Predator 212cc.

Off to Pick Up 12" Long 2" x 2" Aluminum bar to make raisers for the engine.
I now make weekly trips to McMaster Carr. I love that place!

Engine Swap!!!
Out with the Tecemseh 5hp 172cc OHH50.

In with the 15+HP, 15+Ft Lb Tq, Built 212cc Predator.
No more dumping time and money into the Tec.

Will start pulling both engines after one more minibike ride!

And now....
What to do???

Need to lift the engine about 1.5 inches to make the knock off 30 series fit at this angle.

Or I can try to rotate back plate but don't remember if I can on the Predator??

Or I can take the original Comet off the Tecumseh and see if it woks on the predator Side Cover.

The original comet mounts perpendicular on the Tec.

I'll probably have a spare piece of stainless 3" pipe for making a mini bike fuel tank if the predator don't fit with the OEM tank. Its the extension from the base of a patio heater lol.

It fits with a brick under it.

I heard of using a 2x4 but I'm scared of the block flexing.

Id rather see if I can get a TC mounted at a different angle.

Then I'll try to raise it up.

Anybody know if I can just take the original comet off the Tec and bolt it on the Predator at the same angle it was on the Tec?

Or if I can rotate this knock off back plate?
Looks like I'm middle of three.

Original Comet has two hole options.

I bought a chunk of Aluminum to make a raised mount but haven't figured out what to do with it yet

Looks like your tank will hit if you lift the motor.

That has the brick under it.
I can even take the cap off.

I can lower it an inch and still have TC clearance at that TC angle.

I was thinking 2x4 sandwich on steel plate bread if I can't get the angle right.

Or 1.5in square tubing welded into a square with a plate on top?

EDIT:

Returning the 2" x 2" x 12" Long 6061 Aluminum.

Getting 1.5" x 4" x 12" Long 6061 Aluminum

Going to cut it to 1.5" x 4" x 8" Long and drill the 4 holes.

Looks like I need a Drill Press!!!!!!

1.5 x 4" is perfect .
8-9" would be nuff, but sold as 6 or 12.

Gives room to think of stuff to put there???

Better than a 2x4 right?
