Yo,

Just getting into the karting world and wanted to say hello. I have a friend in Austin that gave me a couple one wheel peel karts that I am currently fixing up to use for Lake Texoma and Oklahoma ranch transportation.

I will post up a few more pictures later in the discussion forum to help identify them. I think they are just kits from the 80s-90s. Both have 5hp Briggs engines. One runs well and does 25mph on the radar gun and the other won't stay running so I plan on a 212 Predator swap starting today. I could just fix the carb on it but I am so looking forward to the comparison in power between a free modded 212 and the Briggs.

Anyway, my name is Charlie a/k/a Charles/Chuck/Chazz and I am glad to be here and hopefully able to absorb and contribute.

Welcome. we are glad to have you.
Looks like fun. You could fix the carb.
But the Predator is on sale for 99bucks! Get 2 once you have 1 you will want the other.

Harbor Freight has the predator 212 on sale for $99 with coupon code 35442398 until July 28th. It's in the front page of the harbor freight site.

I'm not sure if this is the right place to put this, but I didn't see it anywhere else.

Here you go!

Thanks fellas. Picked up the Predator already but got sent out on the road so the swap will have to wait for the weekend. That works out well because I have a new chain, clutch, chain breaker and tires coming in the mail this week.

Nice karts there. The "bare bones" yard karts are where it's at IMO.

I see you have embraced the Dark Side™. Now that you've made the tools and parts purchases, there's no escape for you now. You're committed...

If you haven't already, seek ye the Predator #60363. It is a hemi and you may then join the ranks of the few and the proud.

Couldn't find a hemi at the store so I just went with the 69730. It is the 3800 rpm RTC-6 version. The kart with the running Briggs does 25mph with a 10T/60T setup so I guess it is spinning ~4400 rpms. So I ordered a 12T sprocket for the Predator kart so it will go 25mph too.

The wife said that the parts made it in so I should be in business this weekend. The neighbors aren't going to like me much.

Upon further inspection both of the karts have 10T clutches and 54T sprockets. I haven't messed with karts before and I assumed they had #35 chains but they are both #40 chains. So I bought more chain and reused the old clutch from the other Briggs on the Predator. Ran both karts up and down the street with the radar gun and the Briggs actually does 26mph and the Predator does 30mph. The difference in power is pretty big, that Predator is ridiculous.

"Oklahoma ranch transportation "? Those aren't great tires once you leave pavement. You might be happier with knobbies.

EDIT: BTW...Nobody ID'd these....how very unDIY forumlike.

I bought some knobbies, just haven't installed them yet. Those old street tires will become my backups.

The karts will be mostly run on dirt roads and a few flat trails leading down to the river at the ranch or down to the shore at Texoma. While at Texoma they will also be running down the paved street to the marina and corner store.

Took the karts to Texoma over the holiday weekend. The wife and I had more fun than you can shake a stick at. The low seat one with the briggs gave us a little trouble so I picked up a second Predator. I also realized it has a through the tube live axle. If I can figure out how to lock the other hub up it will be getting a TAV as well.

I was impressed with their offroad ability. We followed dirt bikes and ATVs through all sorts of trails. They worked way better than expected to say the least.

Oh, I apologize. I wasn't aware it was requested.

Wrong! They are both Super Wheels karts made by Carter Bros. Distinctive single strut steering wheel brace and the way the two tie rods connect to the steering column are giveaways.

I figure he's got a model 1203 and a 1215 (rear axle within a tube).
