Not much of a weld going on there, mostly gobs of filler. Practice on a piece of plate. Make sure you get your welder on the right settings. Remember to watch the puddle, and go nice and slow.

i made a hole because the stick sticks sometimes, and if you turn up the heat it works again. only i forgot to turn the heat back down!

Oh, your stick Welding!? You need a little mig, Much easier to learn on

And I think You usually use your stick welder for bigger thicker metal. A little $200 Flux core\mig wire welder Will weld that up alot nicer.

You just use smaller rods working on smaller stuff, what do you think people did before wire welding got popular? They either used small rods or used an oxy torch.

r_chez_08, do what Newrider said about practicing on a plate, make some welds side by side at different settings so you get an idea of what setting does what. I wouldn't try to weld the kart together until you're comfortable that your welds are gonna hold up.

Nu uh! They rubbed the metal together really fast until it melted and fused together.

That revelation came to me after paying a small fortune in nozzles, tips, gas rental, etc.

You'll be amazed at how thin you can weld with a stick welder - if you set your mind to it.

You'll find that you'll do a lot better if you ran a few beads on a practice piece lying flat.

All welding should be fun!!!!
