Older Yerf Dog (new guy)

Just picked up an older Yerf Dog. Engine runs great but throttle cable is broke where (Im assuming) its supposed to hook to the throttle plate. I bought a universal mower throttle cable and figured I could nut it to the throttle plate. Ive built many two stroke bikes, but never had experience with these go kart set ups. Any help is appreciated. If nobody can help me without pics there will be some tomorrow afternoon.

Welcome to the forum!! What engine do you have. This will help us to help you with your problem. Different engines hook up differently. Have a look at this thread though, there are several links at the top dealing with throttle hook ups

Update: it is a LCT 208 series. At this point I cannot understand how they had the throttle linkage hooked to the engine. The old cable and rod are there from the pedal back, but all it has is a wire clamp at the end and it's very rusty/crimped/frayed. I have zero throttle control at the moment except for at the fast/slow handle on the engine. Which itself is very stiff. I'm still new to this guys, please bear with me. Your help and responses are greatly appreciated.

Well...if you look closely at my PICTURE ...you can see exactly how it hooks up.

Whatever you're working with needs the bolt that holds the swivel point of that throttle plate loosened.

Lol ok I get the hint. Thank you for your replies, nonetheless. I have tomorrow off and I shall take and post some pictures in the morning. Loosening that swivel point bolt makes a lot of sense to me though so thank you for that as well. Please don't give up on me yet guys!
