Welcome!

Welp... you're off to a good start.
1. Go kart frame in the house, Check.
2. An idea, check.
3. Pic uploaded, check.
4. And you filled out a profile, check.

Build on.

Welcome to the forum. It is good to see another South African on the forum. For some reason they never seem to stay though. LOL.

Start a thread in the build log section of the forum and let us know how the build is going. It looks like you figured out how to post pics

I did a minibike a little while ago from a pitbike frame, but I haven't really been building stuff for a while now. I just hang out here and make a nuisance of myself now :D

Get a GX200. It will be cheaper than getting a bike. Check gumtree and Junkmail as well

Getting a motorbike engine will involve a lot more fabrication skills and work.

ok thanx mate...gumtree has none have checked already...il look on junkmail but i know some1 that has a estorm 125 motor for 700 bucks with its harness and all the other parts,i was going to pick it up the wkend.i know how to mount the engine and how to make a shifter or extending it.only prob would be the axle sprocket size

---------- Post added at 01:33 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:23 PM ----------

Ouch. That does sound a bit expensive. If you think you are capable of doing the bike engine though, I would just go for that

ok landuse thanx for the tips and advice...ill stick to 125 engines they are most common in sa afterall...one last question>is it possiable to use a beld drive engine from a scooter? Just cant get the thought of how it will work? Just incase this guy changes his mind then a beld drive would be a 2nd option as to not having non or waiting for a cheap bike.

Not many scooter engines (if any that I can think of) are used on karts. Not 100% sure why though
