deDONRAGE.. the jackshaft should sit IN the engine bay (just where I drew it in that crappy mockup);
No way it rubs the tire.. it might rub the brake pedal.. nothing else..

worst case:
you have to shave the front dipstick to get that extra .5" for clearance ;)

Ok figured I'd update this post a bit. Moved the jackshaft under the plate. Actually did a road test last week. Its coming along great. Now I have to paint and reinstall everything.

The youtube video of the road test. Keep in mind the annoying whistling is my 14y.o. I recruited to record. Also the other engine you hear trying to start up is the kids across the street trying to start his go kart. LOL

When suspension is added to the equation, all bets are off...

The chain to the wheel needs to run along the same path or very close to the swingarm, otherwise, when the suspension moves, the chain will become loose or tight, depending on the position of the J/S in relation to the swingarm pivot & travel...

In this case, the suspension will have very little travel as it's fighting the chain... until the chain breaks...

Itsid offered the best advice in post #14; try to find a way to make it work...

Well no way to install the JS where you think it should go. Drawing it there doesnt mean it fits. Ill pin the rear suspension. So the chain wont have too much stress. Good points for sure.

Fabro and sid have articulated my original post #12. Your suggestion on post 13# is kinda what you saying now, which looks like the only good option id say.....

Look up on hardtail brat style motorcycles. they're kinda like what your thinking now....
