Here goes:
1. Front clip is a mailbox
2. Front air intake consists of a baking tin, a fan from a GX160 and a flexible waterproofing spray cap.
3. Front frame is a manco 2 seater
4. Rear frame is a 1974 bug stinger fun kart (worthless in the vintage realm)
5. Front hubs are unknown and have 6 holes, very thick aluminum ones
6. Front wheels are old and chrome, pattern is unknown. Nothing fits them that I've ever seen.
7. Machine gun is pvc pipe
8. Gunners handle is a boat control from a 1957 Mercury "Dock Buster" engine, push button works.
9. Gas tank from a Kohler engine I found at the dump, original straps will be used. I saved them.
10. Rear stabilizer bars are steering rods, adjustable for frame flex, etc.
11. Rear brakes are vintage bendix brakes. (Note: The bendix brake carrier is also the iron cross.)
12. Fuel pump mount is custom made
13. Chain tensioner is a connecting rod from an early 70's Jacobsen 321 "turf master) engine.
14. Intake treatment is a Briggs filter cup shaved down and a piece of exhaust pipe was riveted to that.. Now fits most air filters.
15. Rear fin connector was part of an outboard motor mount, attached to the handlebar mount from a 1969 Waverunner.
16. Seat back is a steering hoop
17. Rear braces between the rear frame is from a mountain bike frame.
18. Chain guard, not seen here is made from the control housing of the boat controls I destroyed.
19. Rear wheels are stock 6" wheels you can buy today.
20 Front tires are stock chen shin 5's and rears are chen shin 12x6x6.
21. Two chains were hooked together to make it's chain. There is no master link.
22. Very few nuts & bolts match.
23. Steering was reversed and tucked under the front end to allow for foot placement.
24. Rear fins were access panels from an old boat.
25. Underneath the tank is actually another motor mount. It can run two inline engines if I feel like doing that one day.
26. Mikuni fuel pump, from a race kart, rebuildable.
27. Front engine mount was from the rear of the Manco frame used as the front.
28. Exhaust was made from the original mounting plate of the muffler that came on the engine. It was welded to the back half of a 3 stage pipe used on a clone engine. It won't make it faster, it's just for looks & sound. It is quite loud and it's angled in such a way that it should "BURN" one of the fins... like the exhaust on some old planes send an exhaust trail down the body. Gotta run it first though.
29. Motor, roughly a 1980 Tecumseh H50, box stock but governer was removed.
30. Not seen, numerous original aluminum "engine tags" from the other motors destroyed or used in the making of this.
31. The outrageously large air filter, an AEM (far superior to K&N)
I'm sure I'll be adding to the list as I finish it up.
Next up, connect all the little things, make a brake rod w/return spring, sure up things, create throttle mechanism, seat... and the Chain Guard, the most important part. It must enclose the clutch & front part of the chain.. or I'll end up missing clothes driving this one. My right hip will be basically in contact with the chain guard.
yea. It's a work of art to me... but functional. Can't wait to get it dirty.
Other thoughts: Possibly put another carb just below the main one and fab up two smaller intake pretty things for looks, and maybe three upper curved tubes coming out of the 3.5 hp shroud to cool the top of the motor. Never know.
