Hello everyone my name is celso, well I'll just get to the point. I need help identifying the year of this Emmick kart. I have little to no knowledge of kart brands. Any information will be much appreciated. Also I removed the seat gas tank and nerf bar to prevent further weathering.

I couldn't include this image with my original post so I went ahead and replied to myself. Please let me know if I need to take pictures of specific parts in order to better assist you.

Thank you John, would you happen to know what it might be worth or maybe where I can find parts for it. Also, do you know if it's possible to convert the starter to a pull starter?

It depends on who it is to determine what it's worth, It's worth like $300 to me, it has a kt100 engine, but there is no adapters for pull start, i know they have an electric starter that you could buy used for $70 at ekartingnews.com in the classifieds section. Btw you can complete the bodywork for cosmetic looks and it will also increase the price.

Another question John (or who ever else) would it be better to go with a genuine Yamaha tci box or would an aftermarket one be suffice?

It depends on who it is to determine what it's worth, It's worth like $500 to me, it has a kt100 engine, but there is no adapters for pull start, i know they have an electric starter that you could buy new for $70 (here) Btw you can complete the bodywork for cosmetic looks and it will also increase the price.

I checked out the ad you linked. It's just for a dolly kit and says "starter not included"...

Sorry about that, you could pick up a used one on ekarting news instead. I don't know much about the TCI box, but I'm guessing aftermarket would be fine

I hear Emmicks have it on the rear bearing hanger, or around the steering column, not sure about that though

I found the serial number of what have you but I'm a bit confused, there's an "EL" in front of the number 670. Does anyone have any knowledge as to what that stands for/means? Thank you in advance!

Emmick elite the absence of side pods means its vintage should head over to the VKF they can help you there.(side pods where made to protect the driver in the 90s )

I have one last question if anyone is willing to help. So I figured out that my engine is not producing enough compression thus I need my engine to be worked on. I found this shop or what have you named "Fox Valley Kart" located in Lafayette, Indianapolis. Is there anyone who can attest to their services? Thank you in advance!

Depends on your location but there is a guy here in california mike manning is able to do it .But that also depends on what stage piston (Bore) your engine is at . Also depends on how much your willing to spend if the engine for example is at 52.80 then i believe the next piston size would be outlaw and there not cheap .

Well the reason why I bring up a shop out of state is because they can do these things for these prices

"Typically an unblueprinted Yamaha will put our about 11.5-12 hp with a pipe,
while after blueprinting it should make 16+ hp.
As for the difference in the rebuild costs, the $80 labor + parts is for
what we refer to as a "top-end" rebuild: new piston, ring, top rod bearing,
circlips, and labor to torque plate the cylinder, hone to correct clearance,
fix piston, gap ring, adjust for optimal exhaust port timing, and cut piston
for optimal intake timing, reassenble and check cc's and squish.
The $160 + parts is for a total rebuild, including all the above plus;
disassemble crankshaft, straighten rod, fit new bottom rod bearing and
thrust washers, replace main bearings and seals, reassemble and fit ignition
system, plus all work indicated above.

My advice would be, if you don't know the history of the engine, box it up
and send it to me. I'll examine it and assess what you have and what it
needs. Then, before I do anything, I'll confer with you about what is
required and what the cost will be. If you choose not to proceed, I'll box
it back up and send it back and all you'll owe me is the shipping.
If you choose to proceed, we'll get started on it."

They also do cryogenic treatment to the engine, which is said to greatly extend engine functionality. Can I have some contact info for this man in California to inquire on his price?

I have been hanging out with the yamaha croud at Adams race track for the Vintage kart show and race as well as the Vintage kart forum for the past month and have seen quiet a few kt-100s. I can say a typical kt-100 box stock with the original rookie can exhaust has 14-16 Hp (thats the Se/S version) a Correct Rlv Expansion exhaust adds a good 4-6hp to this type of engine .Mike manning does a fantastic job his prices may be a little different compared to someone else's but you do not have to pay to ship across the country Not going to him for me would be like taking a car to a lawn mower shop (thats how it would be for me someones opinions may differ ) .On another note what are your plans for the kart are you going to race take it around in a Walmart parking lot,re sell it ? http://www.mikemanningkarting.net/
