best bait for feral cats?

I love my 'hood. I really do. Something about this area though- a lot of feral cats. I have 2 traps and I relocate them but it seems they've outsmarted the traps or the bait. I've used tuna cans, chicken wings, and fish. There is a large one pissing on everyone's property that I want to catch and relocate. What do you all suggest for baiting the trap? I thought maybe get cat food and leave it on one of those cheap coffee warming plates to really get the smell going.

most cat's are mad about that stuff.

much nicer smell for you (it's just mint) than cat food, and it can stay in there for weeks..
even dried it'll still work as bait

i used leftover kfc scraps at old place, still in the bucket, was trying to scare em off with slingshot, but then this deer showed up and started eating the kfc! must've been the secret spices.....

Moth balls deter cats, we had them crapping in our flower beds until we threw the moth balls around. And we have one of those sonar cat chaser things too.
A couple aquaintences use these.

Get a big soup can and punch air holes in it. A lot of them. Then go buy a couple feeder mice and put them in the can, with the lid wired shut again. The cats will smell the mice and hear them..

Curiosity killed the cat..... So the saying goes.......

What is the relocation plan for the cats ? Moved away or moved to a special place ?

Also, don't give them the option to set trap off without being inside ( by putting their paws inside from the outside). Put cage in a garbage can or cover sides with plywood.

I always use a can of cheap sardines in oil.....hardest part is not eating them all up myself ......

I usually bait for possums or coons....but 1/2 the time the cats beat them to it......

I have 2 large dogs, one of which is esp aggressive towards cats. I originally set the traps in the backyard in an area the dogs cant get to but cats wouldn't go there because the dogs barked at them from close proximity. The plywood idea is good, might even throw the cats off a little.

Be careful.

My hometown relocated the feral cats to the gas chamber, and then the rat population exploded.
